Why are we doing it gradually? Why not just do it all at once. Don't bash on me, just wondering.

Basically, people can prepare for it now, even if they don't hang out at the forum. ;)
I too send kudos to the management.
Just one question, though (not really a complaint). Prepared meats currently sit at 20-30 g/day, and vegetables are going to end up at over 100 g/day, mostly. Isn't this a pretty big gap? Or am I simply wrong?

/Hellzon - more kudos to management!

It's what's intended with this change, to make cooked food more desirable.

The other thing is, if they have miscalculated in some way and the change will cause massive damage to the game, say for example a change that causes massive starvation or brings trade to a standstill, the effects of that change would start to show before the change is fully implemented. That way the departments involved could begin to see the the results of the change and revisit the plan before too much damage is done.

*cough*And now gathering rates are rising too. I thought that was already implemented? But well, the "day's nutrition/one day's farming" ratios were good before, so I'm glad they're staying roughly the same...

A fish thread and a bread thread for your convenience. And yay for good reasons to eat bread!

Question, will the gathering rates for machines digging up raw vegetables be increased too?

I can only think of Carrot Harvestors right now, so I wonder can one gather even more with them now?

These have been increasing for about....3 months now. :) As for the up and coming ratios, things should be somewhat similar, but there will be some noticeable differences to help balance the vegetables out. I will say that potatoes will at long last be a bit more efficient than carrots, but a meal of carrots will still weigh less, so we shall have some more pros and cons to add some flavor to the food.

The gathering rates for harvestors will be changed once the update is finished. It was a technicality in the coding that makes it easier to change it this way.

OK, but will we eventually see boiled carrots and baked potatoes? This was going to be the general idea, not so?

In fact raw vegetables have more energy than boiled ones. The only reason people boil them in real life are that 1) warm food is more nice to eat and 2) chewing is easier. Modern people are not used to chewing hard food, therefor their jaws weaken and teeth are in danger of even falling out.

Yes.

Actually, this is one reason why I have been trying to think up some more food preps that don't need wood for cooking. Like tossed salad for instance.

How much will you gather and eat when this will be finished?

Gathering rates are as they are now, and I believe that the final eat-per-day will be doubled the original values, based on my understanding of what I read.
