I don't disagree with you about the teaching part....but I don't believe in telling someone truth is only a theory and vice versa.

Let's not go down the road of scientific evidence for evolution and all that BS. That's a bunny hole we've all been down.

What I mean is that I teach my children the Nature of God and His love as truth. When they are old enough to begin to make their own decisions (in their teens) I will let them make their own choices about their path. However, I am confident that they were taught God's nature and will observe the evidence in their own life and will choose the path to life...which, by the way, is the hard path, not the easy one as many people would have you believe.

In regard to the language issue. The bible in the original languages are available. It's not as if the original language copies have been lost. Two Thousand years isn't really that long ago.

I frequently hear sermons where a word that could be misinterpreted is taught in the original greek, latin, or hebrew and a direct interpretation of that word is given (as close as can be given).

Ancient Hebrew for example has less than 3000 words, so to translate the word into English requires a knowledge of the context.

If the Bible were only available in the original language not many people could read it. Reference back to the original language is sufficient.

A good example of this is the word love. Though we have only one way to say it there are different types of love. Sometimes a pastor will use the original word, for example "agape" to explain the type of love in a context.

@Pie: You see, there is no flaming of only christianity, is just that you are always in environments where only the christian fundamentalists are vocal, and as a result they get all the responses. No one jumped on the scene yet accusing everyone of stupidity for not recognizing Allah as the true and only god, and most likely noone will do it very often, so Islam will get very little bashing. That might happen i.e. in an Albanian forum, but you don't go there, do you?

This is a mostly American-European forum, so what's happening is only normal. It's not like we're completely ignoring that the world has spawned hundreds of religions, it's just that there's only one that fits the profile of our population base.
Reality is that which when you stop believing in it does not go away. (Philip K. Dick)

I didn't read all the way through the post, but I must say, as a "Christian" who has taken Biology classes and read up on it on my own, I find less holes in evolution than I do the Bible.

I dismiss the majority of the Bible of Christian propoganda from earlier years. How are we to know the exact words of God when they are translated? Example, the King James Version was highly edited to make it more appealing to the masses so that they would all be Christian.

I believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Just not what the Bible says about them.

Then where do you get what you believe? From TV? From nonbelievers? How much of your Bible have you actually read?

What part don't you believe? The pretranslated texts are available, read them.

Who wanted to pass on the propaganda? Why would anyone spend so much energy on such a conspiracy? Have you ever tried to keep a secret? How long did that secret last? This would be the biggest secret of all time or the biggest lie of all time! Not possible.

I'm not flaming you, but you should really think about wghat you said. I was in the same place you are in on this issue.

If you believe Jesus is God as part of the trinity but don't believe in God's Word then you don't fully understand.

Much of the old testament is found in the Torah. The Jews wouldn't go along with a Catholic conspiracy. And much of the new testament can still be found in the original text. The new testament is a collection of letters.

Most people who claim what you claim haven't actually read out of their Bible at all. But, somehow, they think because they sat in Church or sang Christmas carols they know the Bible.

To be perfectly honest with you, and not to sound like a pompous ass, I've read the whole thing. I don't believe the majority of it in the current state it's in, very changed by man's standards. I should have been more clear on that.

Being as I'm only fifteen, there's a lot I don't know, and a lot of what I believe is influenced from others as well as the media. However, I do think that I have a good filter and I know who's bsing me.

My basic beliefs =

* miracles happen, but I think a lot of the ones in the bible are exaggerated. It happens when people are writing, they can't help it.

* Jesus lived, and died, the "for our sins" part I have yet to come to terms with.

* there is a singular God

* Holy Spirit is God in a different name...the inspiring version.

I guess that doesn't make much sense either, but all well. I'm still working on it.

I can see why someone would follow Islam, Hinduism, or Buddhism or even Atheism, they all make very good arguments, but I don’t understand the blend of Christianity and Humanism, It doesn’t hold together once you think about it. The bible even testifies to this. “So, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth!” Revelation 3:16 I’ve taken Biology, Chemistry and Physics at American public high schools. I got A’s in them all. And I haven’t found anything that refutes anything in the bible that wasn’t based on unproven modernist and post modernist assumptions. There is valid science out there that uses the same evidence from the world around us but comes to conclusions that coincide with the bible. It just can’t be taught is our public schools because of the whole Church & State debate going on, so you never get to hear it in schools.

I’m not saying Christians have all the answers, and I‘m not going to pretend we do. But neither does atheistic science.

I can tell you that picking and choosing through the bible won’t stand under evaluation. It’s a yes or no, hot or cold, situation. Either the creator of the universe is powerful enough to keep his word to us relevant and true, despite language barriers, or he doesn’t exist at all. Those are the only well thought logical conclusions you can make.

Umm..... I can point out a very big wole in evolution without flinching, the carbon dating system.

There are many ways for it to be rong. How do they know that that much carbon equils that many years? Answer, they did it mathmatacly with somthing that they knew how old it was. Question, how did they know that that material used in that OBJECT was that old?

Another way... in the bible it even sais, "And it was void". Who knows for how long?

Big hole in evolution. Another lie. H.F.... you say you don't like bush (Or at leat did say) Becous he lied to you... in a recent debait. Now how many times have you been lied to by evolution? The nabraska man for one. Mad a modal out of two teath. Hah.

Also, I can put up an argument with the statment that were cristians becous of sunday school.

Your probably an evolutionist becous evolution was drummed into your head when you were in school. And evolution has even less profe than the bible.

And also, the whole thing about the bible being changed..... Sais that in the bible. It has happened. It's all about less vocabulary.(Either that or somone gets an "idea frome god"(The mormans.)) Ever since language, people have had somthing in here heads that makes their language change over time. So, latin became frech becous people cept on changing their vocabulary until actual different languages were sprouted.

Also, why wasn't there a debait about"For the republic of wich it stands" in the pledg of alegance? I mean, isn't that insulting for democrats? And the united states hasn't been a full republic since the cival war. Also, in alot of games, the people you play as are RIGHT HANDED. Dosent that ofend left handers? COMON!! STOP NITPICKING!!!!

Salad, great points. All of them. I think West pointed it out once that Christianity is not a buffet line. You (anyone You) either agree or disagree. If you disagree fine, but make up your mind.

Pie, bud, please stop. Your zeal for the evolution topic is commendable and for the most part I agree with you, but you aren't a credible witness. You need to fix your spelling first, then read out loud what you are typing. It's almost offensive to me, and I agree with you.

I think you're playing a game with the spelling. You have some very well thought out arguments and the grasp of history and science is excellent. So I can't believe that your spelling is that bad. It doesn't make sense. But, if it is, then type what you're doing in Word then spell check. Believe me, it would go a long way. I'm not beating you up, just a little coaching.

As far as whether evolution occurred or not is irrelevent, anyway. Christ said "go and make disciples" not "go and convince them that they didn't come from monkeys". With an eternal perspective it just doesn't matter where you came from. The important point is where are you going?

what you mean me no credible witness?

Spelling is part of it and your continued insistence on arguing the evolution issue. It seems like you just want to argue the point and so it seems that you aren't credible.

I'm sure you are, but you're not demonstrating it. Spelling for many people is an indicator of credibility. Think about it.

When I review a resume the first thing I do is throw out every one of them that has a spelling error on it. ALL of them. It shows a lack of thought of the content.

No one is perfect when typing. Heck, I have to revise my posts on here 3 times to get them even close and there are still errors. But, you have to admit, every third or fourth word is wrong. If it is because of your age, then people will think you're not credible because you're young.

If it's because you're in a hurry, then you lose credibility for being hasty and sloppy.

If it's a joke and you're doing it on purpose, then you lose credibility because you could be joking about your posts.

Hey man, I want to see you improve. I like your arguments and your heart. But, you need to improve the spelling.
