Anarchy

Postby thingnumber2 » Mon Dec 08, 2003 2:30 am

Just out of curiosity, why do so many characters hate it so much, yet live in it? I have had a character trying to get people to help him spread anarchy, but most people who are living in a non-governed place are to satisfied with what they have, to try to spread it...any thoughts?

most who want anarchy just want to be alone with out any one meddling, so they probably think it would be hypocritical to force their system on others. then there's also the OOC idea that most have that anarchy is bad even though anarchy in cantr is very different from anarchy IRL.

but then again, there are quite a few people who preach anarchy in Karnon Forest....

I dont want to get into a heavy political argument, but as an anarchist IRL, the anarchy movement gets such a bad rep. Were all considered evil terrorists, we supposedly want to 'kill everyone with bombs from the anarchist cookbook' which by the way was not even written by an anarchist. Most of us are just extreme left wing activists, (peaceful), and by no means evil, just very VERY opinionated. :D Hope I cleared that up for those who aren't familiar with it. :D

Thingnumber. You're not firecam aren't you? Man, he's a fanatic. But everything is better then that "council" in KF. And watch Hvytgh, He's evil.

Yeah, unfortunately this game is often full of biases and things drawn from the real world. Although anarchists ARE evil in real life.

I disagree strongly that anything is better than the council. I can think of a dozen things that would be worse without even trying.

Obviously yours is one of the characters that arrived late without a full understanding of what was going on and decided to listen to every word that came out of Firecam's mouth.

My char's been there almost all his life, and he was born w/in a week or so of the island appearing.

He's seen it all...or everything that's happened in the forest, anyway.

Actually, I've know Firecam from long, long ago. And my char arrived in KF not that long ago, but another char lived for a while there but was killed by Aeris. May she rot in hell.

By the way. The council itself was not really bad. It's Hvytgh that ruined it for the ouncil with his stupid ideas.

I'm not going to disagree with you

but the council was made up of people with differing opinions..one thing that frustrated me was that people took the words and suggestions of one councilmember as laws, and then complained that they were repressive.

is this one council member in particular? I noticed that what one council member said, and stated it as a law, another would come along and contradict. I don't think anyone knew what was and wasn't allowed

Hvytgh made public that iron shields were banned, iron digging, etcetera. And for some time no other councilmember said anything. What else sjould we think? And locking firecam up was plain stupid, thats when my char lost all trust in the council. BTW. I knew firecam for a long time, and he didnt want power. He wanted his company to prosper, no more.

@ solfius, you posted when i was still typing, and yeah, thats exactly what i mean. Also, i happen to know Hvytgh from when he spawned. (right after me). I also know what his plans were, to take over a place and become a dictator.

well, with regards to HvyThg, I think every has a little desire to be a dictator, and run a place ruthlessly, but not every has the ability to. Not all dictators are bad, and my usual reference would be Steve in Siom, who does singlehandedly control Siom, I think, and no one minds

nobody knows how to handle HvyThg better than my character, I think, nor does anyone know his attempts to grab power better than my character...

If HvyThg wasn't so easy to influence openly the place would never have left the Empire without bloodshed.

You'll notice he always goes along with what the people want when it's clear he has no other choice, but he's also always trying to get more personal power...
therein lies the difficulty.

the REST of the council wanted, for the most part, more freedom.

HvyThg wanted more control but was maneuvered into agreeing.

I view it is an accomplishment to have been able to work with him for so long.
