Make revolution... Ovethrown ugly old bad creatures!

My char is 24y old in En zone, have ship, steel tools (good weapon too), soon own home... Give him 10 y and maybe he will rule in this place?

Floyd wrote:Plus, can no one see themselves getting a little bored with playing the same charector for 10 years? I mean, it's a sweet idea, but a little monotonous, surely?

Maybe - now I can't say YES or NOT - and let ME decide. OK maaan?

Cheap shot

I'm going to stick with the thought that Cantr isn't equal to real life and the chars should be able to live indefinitely, even though it's difficult to imagine. Eventually a player will get sick of the char, get sick of the game and changes will occur. Revolutions will happen, kingdoms will crumple, chars still die.

So what if they're immortal, unless they starve or get sliced down (or have that elusive thing called a heart attack). Maybe if there were more old chars out there, it might seem better to have them have a natural cut off point, but the fact is that there's not.

If there -must- be a cut off, I'd say a fairly high one, more like 200, 300, 400... Well, maybe not 400... Besides, their years are already shorter than ours, so it stands to point that they'd live a little longer than us. (who would really play a char til they were 400 anyway? and if they did.. who's to say they won't get caught in an unfortunate event that claims their life?)

YEAH!!! You are right - and this should be final argument in this topic -
- if char starts in 20 and should live so long as we live - then end age should be about 1450 - and this will be ok...

Whoa... glad to know you like it, but 1450 seems... wow... inconceivable... Even though I'm for indefinite Cantrian lives, it's hard to wrap my human mind around the numbers that indefinite brings... because I can't fathom playing a char that long...

Must be that innate knowledge that we all die someday and that everything ends eventually... eh.. depressing... so... yea, no cut off for Cantrian chars!

I agree with Hermit, soon enough i know I will have to stop playing. I intend to volunteer in the third world next year, so I won't be able to keep on playing...and at any rate....if looking at the survival rate so far, one can see that numbers shrink as charries grow older, this was stated before. So the odds of characters surviving until 1450 are so slim. That maybe 1 character will make it to such an infathomable age. But then again, powerful or not, three or four 90 year olds with weapons could kill that one elder in 1 or 2 days.

There are few enough older characters as it is. Why do we want to punish players for being dedicated? If you manage to keep one your chars alive that long, you deserve to be able to keep them.

 Keeping a character alive forever sounds more like a punishment than a reward!

One problem mentioned before is that one char could become powerful enough to rule a city/empire for centuries. What happens if someone becomes powerful enough to rule a nation with an army to look after him/her at any given time. That person would be impossible to assassinate.
Another thing...what about the heir to the throne? Some nations are ruled by families, the generations can't take over the throne if the king lives forever.

All the more props to them if they have that degree of power and influence. I don't think that's the case in Cantr. Getting power is easy, holding on to it is another story, especially if you're in a key location.

As for the families, well, we don't have families. I agree that if children are implemented and turn out to have been a good idea, that will be an argument for character death.

Well, 1450 cantr years (equal to ~80 real) proposal was a joke. More real (in Cantr reality) will be something like 180 - 200 cy - this should be acceptable for people who want to kill their chars early and for they who want to play a bit longer...
