If pregnancy is implemented we need to add STDs. While I am all for more diseases and uses of the apothecary mixtures, I do not think we should kill off our older cantrians. Besides, eventually anyone worth living would confine themselves to a solitary room with a radio, keeping all of the germs out. A Howard Hughes or Hubbard type paranoia of germs.

Yeah, my mind always seems to wander onto a new idea before I have finished typing the first one... :P

Surly has alot more ideas that he never manages to write down. It's while my posts/rants are always so rambling.... My typing struggles to keep up with my thoughts...

Oh dear... Am I really so old already?

As for making older chars weaker, it is precisely the absence of this that defies the logic of a old age death point... a 98 year old woman is just as physically capable (well aside from getting screwed over by skill changes...) as a 20 year old man.

This may be changed by disease and reproduction changes, but until then, death of old age should be placed, indefinitely on hold.

I totally DISAGREE!!!

This is Cantr not Earth! Why people here can't live forever? Or at least like in early eras up to 1000 ?

2000 days - this is only 5 years - what if I want to play Cantr until player die? Maybe 20 or 30 years - maybe more...?

EDIT: Sickness, diseases, wars - all is OK - but why DEATH should have total power and LAST word also in Cantr?

And in a lot of the town's I'm in, there aren't the number of newspawns to replace them that there used to be to make the towns sustainable. Unfortunately, Cantr seems to be dying a slow, lingering death to me.

So long as there are a few people, Cantr lives on...in a post apocalyptic age! Making it all the more interesting as the highest population rate for one area become around five. This could make for a very interesting game.

As for death by old age, once you're, say, 150, I think it's time the character was laid to rest. Honestly, no one should live forever.

Why? You want to die in your '70 '90 or '80? Or maybe you want to live as long as you will want up to moment when you will be ready to decide about you r death?

I like my life, but i dont expect to live forever, Just because you dont want your favourite Charector to die doesent mean you should reject something as sensible as this.

But in real life I can cut my life in any moment - ot I must wait till it will be finished - at my '40 '80 ora maybe '120...

Cantr ISN'T real life and what if I plan eg. sail it arround - 2000 days ill be no t enaugh ;) Then why charries MUST die - they can starve, can be killed, sick... And die... But why they MUST?

Sensible by whose definition?

I believe older charries help preserve the continuity and tradition of the various regions. Or at least the history. I also think older charries inspire a certain reverence and appreciation of an individual who has beaten the odds to have achieved such a respectable age.

I have not heard any convincing reason that charries should age out other than vague OOC comments that "nobody lives forever" or simply that it should just be that way because it is that way in real life. Dying of old age is an OOC concept.

Yes, but i think there is a such a thing as too much continuity. The same person ruling a town for thousands of years? sounds a little dull to me!

Besides, if charectors live unil old old ages, they'll be the ones with all the weapons and wealth, and thus the power. Newer Charectors will just have to put up with serving the old.

Plus, can no one see themselves getting a little bored with playing the same charector for 10 years? I mean, it's a sweet idea, but a little monotonous, surely?

But have any of the towns in Cantr ever been ruled by the same person for even the 60 years we have had? (with the possible exception of Olip (west) :P ). Things will change, they should not be changed, especially for sure an inconsistent concept

Please don't belittle this debate by pulling that statement out again. That has not been the case for a long long time, and there is absolutely no basis for such a sweeping statement in relation to the Cantr we currently have. That argument has been used time and time again tro push through poorly thought out and inconsistent changes, and it's about time someone saw how much rubbish that statement is.

Yep. But why not let the player decide that, just like the player who decides to let their account idle out?

And besides, it's not like tool deterioration, where there simply would have become wayyy too many tools.

But I wouldn't mind if people died of old age.
Just because you're older, smarter, stronger, more talented... doesn't mean you're BETTER.
