Yeah. How do you know it's a newbie anyway? But yes, I've seen some nice newbies, thank god for them, it's just that the annoying ones seem to stand out more. You only spot a polite new player when they don't know how to join a project or something.

Possibly a returned player?

No, she said OOC that she just started playing and that we should bear with her.

Someone actually read the instructions? And is following them?!

I'm relatively new, and haven't made any in game blunders. I don't think. I read the introductory pages but, more helpfully, the webzine. It really helps you get a feel for the game, and it should be suggested that all new players read an article or two before playing.

When I started, I read all the rules, etc, in game and out of game. As a 10 year veteran of online games, I've learned that the first few turns of any game are often critical to the success or failure of a position. Nothing annoys me more than a player that comes in expecting the community to explain things to them that have been discussed and presented ad nauseum previously.

Luckily, the line between IC and OOC is strict here, so you don't have the "How do you play this game?" messages. Well, at least not many, and then you can just kill those that do.

I agree. My char did her best to sort him out but eventually lost patience with him and he stormed off... probably not knowing where to.

Yeah, newbies tend to name several characters the same. It's well possible.

Saw lots of people do that...nobody bothers doing it on a day like 1380 or 1360 though.

We really need an specific IC word for a five year period, since in Cantr tohse double zeros make it look so special. Hmm...a decade is ten years, so...Happy Quintade?
