What do you guys think about drying healing fruit so that they are easier to carry.
Generic Example:
200g of fruit heals 1% health
Dried on the drying rack 200g becomes 100g of dried fruit and heals ¾% health.
I don’t think it would be a good idea to make them super potent, so anybody can carry enough to heal themselves a few times over. But being able to carry a bit more healing power would be nice, and having to put in extra work for it would be fair.
If you can make put time into regular food to make it more efficient, why not healing food too.

I have been thinking about it.
I would love to try and throw more things onto the drying rack so that it might be a bit more practical. I have been trying to crunch the numbers so I can try to appease all the players out there with an acute efficiency fetish.

If it gets added, the potency will have to be increased in order to achieve the balance. This is actually realistic as well. When herbs are dried, the water loss actually leads to a concentration of the chemicals that cause the flavor. So if a recipe calls for dried basil, you often need to add three times the amount of fresh to achieve he same flavor. Beef jerky and pemmican were pioneering food in the 19th century for much the same reason, not to mention preservation, which is much less a factor with current Cantrian physics and physiology. (c'mon disease and rotten veggies!
)
Blah blah blah...that is probably what would happen if it gets implemented.

The way it is in the example I gave above is half again as strong for the same number of grams, and took twice as many raw grams to make that. But I wasn't trying to balance everything out, I was just putting the idea onto the table. The reason I didn't make it twice as strong was because I figured some of the nutrients would be lost in the process. Enzymes and such. But I am not an expert in game balance or nutrition so I'll just let other people figure that out.

lol I've been discussing this with Wichita a couple of times and now someone comes in and suggests it... Really, would it be enough for people that the food was lighter to carry, when it's healing value wouldn't increase in the drying process? You would only do work to reduce the weight. Would it be enough for people?

Well, it would have to increase per gram, otherwise it's pointless to prepare it, since you still have to lug the same weight around to have access to the same amount of healing.
An increase per unit of raw material isn't necessary, though, and the original poster even suggested a decrease per 200 g. of raw material.
