This would need a weird sort of system where it can be locked up but moving, so that it could be broken into on the road and the driver could be pulled out.

I like that idea . They should also be a whole lot harder to break into than your average car. Say,the lockpicking project takes five days rather than one....or more (remembering that people can-and do- work in tandem on that sort of project, if they have enough crowbars ) However an extra long lockpicking projectshould carry a guarantee of sucess if it isn't interrupted. (and if it is interrupted , then you should be able to mend the lock rather than replace it. But you really should be able to do that anyway)

Am I the only person thinking: "Hey, if I had a few bandit raiders on one of those, we'd be invincible - drive into town, get out and attack, jump back in and rest on the cots we'll build on board until the next attack"? It needs some sort of balance. And before it gets suggested, cost is not enough to balance an overpowerful manufacture.

I'm thinking Sho ALMOST cracked a smile on that last post.

I agree with you though, it wouldn't be balancable.
Unless we had C4 or something... But hey, that's just stupid in context to cantr.

Molatov cocktails work on armoured vehicles, look at Russia during WW2 or Iraq yesterday, the flamable liquids can get inside, thus if we have armoured cars, we'll have to have armour piercing weapons. On the other hand if cars added to the shield value of a person inside it would make much more sense.

I would like to be able to domesticate a horse and build a wooden wagon to tie up to the horse and be able to use this to transport myself, my friends and commodities across the land... How hard would that be?

That gets suggested very often, and has been in the process for quite a while.

A boat that requires no wood.
Believe it or not, some people have access to iron and steel easier than wood.
Game economy should dictate that most of the time I build wood boats, not lack of project options.

Is it currently possible to have an amphibious vehicle of some kind - one which can travel along roads then 'dock' and travel on water - like a hovercraft or a car which floats (they do have them - they do tours on the River Thames in them...)
Whoever you vote for.

It shouldn't be a huge leap, as ships already display roads in places they dock to. Might be a big leap, though, for all I know.

As for the woodless boat, I like it. A dinghy-style ship would be realistic and good, though I don't know about anything larger than that, seeing as there aren't any RL analogues for large all-metal ships without engines (which, of course, raises the possibility of steamships or other powered ships). A rubber raft might also be good.

Do we have warships yet? That would make seaside sieges intresting, even if it was just a bunch of people shooting ballistae. As for the ironclad...I like the idea, but I think it'll be tacked up next to the nuke.

Eh, i invishion cantr as in a 1400 period right now. It has different arias with different levels of "Civilisation" and iron clads, would be a bit ahead of there times.

The next naval vessel I'd like to see is one with a motor. Nothing to fancy, something yatch-ish. And as far as warships, it wouldn't work like that. In cantr, one would make a boat and then arm it and RP it as a warship. I remember reading that one time.

How about some sort of wooden bike/cart thingy that can hold 80 kilos?

In other words, a wooden cart that lets a person carry twenty kilos around, as they fill up the other 60 k.

Why are almost all the vehicles for land made in part by iron and/or steel, while the sea vessels are mostly wood? Like Nick said, why do we have to stick to one type or the other?
Reality was never my strong point.
