"Guys, will you knock it off?" she asks, shooting an annoyed look over to where Pie and Luncid are bickering. "And Pie, I realize you have some kind of Freudian obsession with showing off your gun, but now is really not the time. Keep that thing assembled, please. You never know when you might need it."
"Obviously those...things have been in this area already," she adds, nodding toward the smashed in glass. "I wonder what they were after?" she continues, almost to herself.
Shaking her head and tuning into the other conversation going on, she pulls out a pack of emergency rations and tears it open, getting up to hand a couple of energy bars to the scientists.
"It's not much, and they taste like sawdust, but supposedly they're nutritious. And like the Colonel said, we'll be out of here soon enough and you guys can get some real food."

"Thank you, Corporal.. Lumin, is it? I haven't eaten since I got holed up in that panic room. Didn't think of packing a lunch... hehe... I think I'd eat just about ANYTHING right now."
Fleegleton fumbles with the foil wrapper of the energy bar and stuffs the dry contents into his mouth. He chews loudly.

The young man who has been sitting in the corner cleaning and checking his weapons since he arrived stands up and cracks his knuckles...he is a tall, muscular man with a long scar on his left cheek.
Heh, those monsters were prolly looking for us...they must be getting hungry by now an' we're prolly kicking out a stink they can smell all through this place.
He turns to the scientists
Don't you two worry though...they aint gonna get anywhere near us if I got anythin' to say 'bout it! pulls his gun across his chest and winks

Lying in the depths of your imagination, worlds above and worlds below, you can tell a man from what he has to say

Skwiddworth takes the energy bars and nods in thanks, nibbling on the corner of one absent-mindedly. He points to the smashed glass. He seems to gain composure as he talks about his work.
"Doctor Fleegleton already mentioned my position as a researcher of the lycanthropy virus... this was an aritificial habitat for one of my subjects. At first he was relatively docile, but as the virus incubated he became stronger and more violent. We had to move him from the first habitat into this reinforced one, complete with concealed... security measures... in case of an escape. It appears that when the power went out, he was able to break the glass. Inches thick, it is. Truly an amazing feat..."
He chuckles nervously, losing his temporary composure.
"Not exactly beneficial to our cause, however. If we cannot get out, then the odds are neither can he."
He falls silent, and then forces a few awkward laughs to try to ease the tension. He continues to eat pieces of the energy bar slowly.

Fleegleton stuffs the remains of the energy bar into his mouth, smacking his lips together in the effort to regain some moisture. He crinkles the wrapper into a loose ball and drops it at his side.
"That's what all those noises were! I wasn't allowed in this area before today. I didn't even know we had a live one! If I'd known I don't know if I would have agreed to this job..."
Fleegleton looks around the room for reassurance. Skwiddworth's nervousness is not helping him remain calm.

Lumin stares at the smashed glass with an unreadable expression as this new information suddenly gives it a more sinister import.
"With all due respect, doctors, we already know how to kill the damn things. What else is there to learn about them?" She scowls. "I suppose next you're going to tell me you were studying live vampires, too."

"In light of the knowledge made available by my distinguished colleague, it certainly seems likely. Like I said, I just do blood. I don't know how they get the samples, but it now seems likely that they would have a live specimen. And yes, we already know how to kill them, but you see we like to keep an eye out for mutations of the blood cells. The mutation we were studying was particularly resilient, and if our tests are any indication, the mutated blood might give the subject strange new powers. I'm afraid we didn't have a chance to do a more detailed study before this happened."
Fleegleton wheezed, for he had barely taken a breath as he spoke. He huffed and puffed for a few moments then took up an absent stare.

Nixit gazes off, seemingly to be making sense of what's recently been said. Suddenly, he looks up, and gives a half smile and a slight chuckle.
"Well, all that technical stuff's beyond me. I don't need to know these circumstances or whatever, just the fact that there are some creatures on the loose that has to die. Clever creatures, no doubt, but creatures nonetheless. Give me orders, and my Team will follow 'em.

He looks first at Doctor Fleegleton, then at Doctor Skwiddworthy
It would have been somewhat more helpful if you had told us this earlier.
It is possible that the lycanthropy virus victim has been neutralised. I've had no reports of anything untowards, at least not anything that indicates we have a dangerous man-animal on the loose.
I wouldn't be surprised if one of those bodies out there was your victim Doctor Skwiddworthy...
But what else do you know about this virus Doctor? How contagious is it? What are the possibilities that one of us may be infected?
As for vampires... He turns towards Doctor Fleegleton This new mutation, what might that entail? I want as much information as you can give me, speculate if need be. I want to know my men are as prepared as they can be...
He takes a slow look around the room, taping his knuckles against the edge of the table where the blueprints are still laid out
Private Penguin?
Before the power surge and the confusion that followed, where were you last in the company of the rest of Bravo team?

Skwiddworth shudders.
"I don't even want to think about the virus spreading. The pain the subject endured was excruciating. I almost stopped the experiments, but I must do what I am told. If any of you are bitten, you will be infected. The virus has a very short incubation period, and you will start to experience mutations within hours, and nightly after that."

Her face darkens and she reaches up to rub her temples, as though struck by an unpleasant thought.
"Now, Doctor Skiddworth, sorry if this question is ridiculous, chalk it up to a paranoid suspicion of secretive goverment-funded experiments, if you will, but this person...well, former person, I guess... They contracted the virus the...er, natural way?"
She pauses uncomfortably. "I mean...well, you do know what I mean, right?"

[Before Swiddworth can answer, the group hears a cry echoing in the darkness... with all the talking, no one is able to make out where it came from so everyone hushes... a few seconds later the cry comes again... somewhere on this level but far down the corridor. It sounds like a woman calling for help.]

"Sounds like trouble. Was there much people in here, assistants, maintainance?" She glances at the researchers but doesn't stop to wait for reply. "I propose we split the group, ones stay here to protect the docs and the others move out to find that screamer. It might be a trap but it sounds like she'll be dead soon if we don't nail some muties. Just gotta make sure no one goes solo and we keep the civilians out of trouble."
