I thought it would be pretty obvious that I was referring to the Penguin, but I was a tad sleepy at the time. Not that I'm not sleepy now. Maybe you ought to just pretend I never said anything.

In any case, perhaps I should just discard the monsters idea and leave it as caves. Like Schme said, as like a building, but with no lock or knockingness or anything like that. And maybe have a bunch of rooms in it. *Shrugs* But then have it as like a whole cave system when free-roaming is introduced. *Thinking about Lord of the Rings* Maybe instead of going over mountains, you could go under them? :?

Well, I like what the idea is now. We should have caves and real animals in there, I'd hate to see the day this game becomes a fantasy.
Oh and about free roaming, are they actually planning on doing that? And would that be graphical or word based...I hate word based ones where you have to walk around cities.

Did...did you just quote yourself?
1223-4: You kill a elephant using a longbow.

I'm kind of a little dissappointed in the fact that people are so unwilling to see this game as somewhat of a fantasy. Because it is. Really.

Just because we've given the title "elephant" to a particular animal doesn't mean we couldn't refer to it as something else that is more fantastical.

That being said, I suppose the last thing cantr needs are orcs and dragons roaming the lands. But it would pose an interesting idea if there could be individual animals that have better stats and more aggressiveness than normal members of their species.

For instance, say that there is a population of lions in a location. Suddenly a new lion is born/spawned. This lion is different from the rest, it is a "fierce, hulking lion" or whatever descriptor you want. This lion is a maneater, it actively attacks, has a stronger attack that has a chance to bypass shields just like a person can, and has more life than the average lion.

I think having individual animals as antagonists is a good thing. The type of thing that can spawn into cantr myth and legend.

Maybe there would be tales of a dragon that lives in the nearby swamp, but in reality it is just a "fierce, humongous swamp snake."

******
Another idea. Rabies. A disease for animals. Makes them more aggressive. Discuss.

Okay, the caves would have deformed evil animals in them, i.e. A Large Vicious Rabbit. These being "unique animals" that happen naturally. (This is just summarizing what AoM said) And the caves would be like building, except you can't lock them or knock on them. How does thatr sound?
P.S. the unique animals could be anywhere, including swamps, mountains, and cities

Actually, you really got a good point there.

Actually, AoM may have meant that there should be individual animals that have different personalities and such, like our characters. Not scientifically supernatural animals.

Spiders and cockroaches are not animals. I believe that they're insects.

*casts the first stone*

anyways, back to the topic, we don't need ai monsters that's what creativity is for, if you want orcs then someone creates a clan called orcs, they are humans really but thier clan members are called orcs and they can act just like orcs or w/e same goes for trolls ogres, fairies and so forth names of clans as opposed to species, who's to say they can't build thier "underground cavern(hall)" and pop out to pillage

Umm, insects are part of the animal kingdom... they aren't plants, fungi, protists or bacteria.

they could go deeper and deeper. and they could be dark. not able to see in them. unless you create a source of light.. and when you create the light source.. it could reveal... an animal/monster.. such as an aggressive creature... Dragon(dinosaur).. why not? or maybe just some aggressive creatures such as bears. also caves could be sources of gold, silver, diamonds. outcasts to the sociaty(pirates) could build their cities within the caves. or criminals. it would be a fun feature.
