I second that motion, Lumin. In fact, anything that *can* be implemented, I think, will be better than a wide and thought-provoking range of things that are not.

Ha! You too? I thought it was some sort of AI when it answered my "Hello". I kinda ruled that out once I got into a conversation with that person.

I think you may be opening the game up to some racialism or Tribe warefare even. It does sound a very interesting idea though.

i.e Creepy guy in black said earlier(with Lad Genes)
It might read as, This young man has brown hair blue eyes, His skin a tan hue above average in height.

So many others may read(seatown gardens Genes of course)
This lady has brunette hair, stunning green eyes, above average stature,her skin pale but radiating a silk like sheen.

*she covers her eyes* Of course i do feel sorry for the forest folk.
This man although stocky in build, height maybe just reaching 4ft, Excess hair covering arms and shoulders, his brown eyes peek out from dense eybrows.

Hmm. It makes me wonder what the Alexian Emperor would think. With him standing 6ft, blond hair and ice blue eyes, when confronted with a hairy forest midget dressed in silk wanting work as a tailor. :lol:

I have a feeling it would lead to excellent roleplay,but it would be nice to make your own. Unfortunately there will always be people who would abuse this option, and i feel you would see( blonde barbie with 33 dd) descriptions, need i say more....

I'm happy to see either myself, chosen for you or chosen yourself.
Although i am wary of already existing characters, who dress well and hold high postions, Suddenly looking like 4ft nothings with blond stubby hair and excess freckles....It'll be bad for business, although highly hilarious. :P

You know.. the more i cinda think about this...the more i think "THIS WOULD BE AWSOM, but it would get in the way of any Generation.. or genetic thing. So i would think that at the top of the descritption buttons.. would be a button to be a child with a momy AND a daddy. And uncles and adoptid famly members.

I was going to suggest something like this, but saw it already suggested, and, apparently, accepted. Should this be moved to accepted suggestions?

Ok, from what I've just read this is how I think it should be done:

The basic things that cannot be controlled in real life would depend on the location, for example: This person has:
-Dark brown eyes
-Dark Brown Hair
-Has a thick jaw
-Is heavy set.
-He has pale skin.

Then there's the characteristics that you can control:
-He is clean shaven.
-He has long, messy hair.

And if hygiene becomes an issue:
-His face is dirty.

I suggest to implement this such way:
all already created characters can choose once their look from drop-down lists of eye, hair, skin, etc colors (who has already role-played this) or once press the button "generate" (for lazy-ones or who just dont care :)). All newspawns must get this colors automatically. And after some time (lets say, RL month) all characters, who didnt choosed colors gain random ones :) (i think, that we cannot afford undescripted characters for too long)
And my suggestion about genes is such:
1) If in spawning location is no people at all then randomise genes (area or location or whatever specific).
2) If in spawning location is only male-characters or only female-characters then choose randomly genes from one of characters, another part of genes as in 1) and mix them :)
3) If in spawning location is characters of both genders lets take randomly genes from one of male-characters and from one of female-characters and mix them :)
I think this will add some flavour to the character descriptions...
And for hair-style and etc, that others suggested to put in text-box i think its difficult to control and easy to abuse... And in such case there will be problem with translating descriptions to other languages :)
About scars - i think this is in another thread and we should not mix them :)
Maybe we should describe characters step-by-step. First eye color, which almost dont changes and there will be not very much of discussion. (lets start another thread eye collor suggestions) Then maybe hair-type (curl, waved or straight) (it dont changes very much too) and color (hair colors i think is theme for another thread :)) And so on...
It will be not very hard to implement genes mixing from RL...

Ufff... too much writing and reading :) But this is nice idea i think anyway and its worth to think about it some more.

That can only happen in those predevined spawn towns those old language zones use. And then it's almost impossible to happen.

Haha, I thought someone might pick up on that. I did think it strange, but held my tounge considering I know little about forum clutter and how it was/is dealt with.

Amlin's suggestion is a good summary of the "genes" concept that's been accepted and in the pipeline for well over a year.

It would be quite advantageous for one of my Characters who became leader of a certain town via tyranny. He now owns a few other towns, too. But yeah, I needed some kind of race or gender to pick on, so I was going to pick on women (killing all Cantr women) but now that races could be coming out, I'll make that character wait a little longer. (he's a Hitler-repeat, at least, that's how I want him to be, so another race/gene would be good... killing blue-eyed people, hehehe)
