Wouldn't you like your craftsmanship recognized just slightly? It would be nice for clothing resources to be named. For example, you could call it Longinanzy cotton, and then the clothes that are made out of it would say, "made from longinanzy cotton." It doesn't need to be named after the location however, but it would be named like a location. You might want to call the silk found in unnamed location, Royal silk. It's up to you but it would be nice if you could tell where something was from.

The Location idea would NOT work. Especially with the 'unnamed location' advent.
However, an adaptation of this idea is to create 'tags'. In this, a company could have a room for workers to make tags, a room to process raw materials, and a room to make the clothes, and someone to put the tag on the clothes.
Hell! You could put a rough price of days, or iron (the source I trade with on most characters), on the tag, so people don't go round selling 'Longinanzy T-shirts' (AUTHENTIC!!! BUY, BUY!!) for 200 iron when they're worth, say, 20.
Otherwise, it's a good idea. Like note-making- except attached to a shirt, and say, 5 words long?

I don't think this is implementable under the current system. Remember how much trouble RD had to go to to make it so any fiber could be used to make a drying rack? There's no way to make it so multiple resource types can be used interchangeably on a single project, and even if it could be done I don't see any way to have the type of resource be marked on the product. Not to mention that traders and pirates are going to have a devil of a time managing dozens of little piles of resources.

Companies would love it- they'd drool over the idea. All it is, really, is a note attached to a piece of clothing- and it would look like this in Cantr:
[buttons_here] Fine Cloth Gloves - Made by TBR
