I really like the mirror idea. And perhaps you can look into and see your own char description.

Pie, please keep the irrelevant posts out of the useful suggestions. If need be, please make a Pie's Thoughts thread in the General Forum.

Looks great, although I would suggest a screwdriver on the recliner, what with the moving parts.

I'd still like to see over resting, where you heal when you rest and aren't tired.

Mirrors until recently used silver as the reflective backing. Would it be appropriate to add silver to the project?

Mirrors being useless luxury items (store stuff in a mirror? rest on a mirror?), making them harder to make shouldn't cause anybody any problems.

How about a Mirror that does something actually useful? Instead of just reflecting you, which a mirror in this world would do, perhaps it could do something a little different?
Perhaps the mirror would reflect a list of your skills? or the five or so you most commonly use anyway, or something along those lines. That way it would actually be useful. I know mirror's don't do this in our world but many things happen in Cantr that don't happen here.

Yeah, a mirror and 'Project: Check Self Out' will let you know how much muscle you have. ;)

I wasn't planning on any of those having any uses - except resting...

If hygene is ever introduced, then a mirror shoulkd have a use, but at the moment it should just be a luxury item with no programmed uses...

And yes, silver - I was sondering what it was they used to use to make mirrors reflective - maybe replace the iron requirement with the same amount of silver

They would be useful if they ever programmed furniture-based healing, as well as resting.

I just lately read this article on making mirrors. Polished stones and copper were the first to be used. Glass mirrors were very hard to make and at a time they were only manufactured on one island in Italy. The one would take the secret outside would be killed. And it required lots of tools as well. One way of making a mirror was to blow a sphere of glass, put quicksilver and was there even lead? and stuff inside, then finally break the sphere and file it into right shape. Mirrors needed to be dried for a long time, so the time of manufacturing should be long.

There should be chairs with the sitting part made of cloth. Lots of that type! I don't know what's this <censored> about "furniture shouldn't require cloth because it hasn't before", that's totally irrealistic.

There, hemp webbing seat.

The biggest problem is to give the furniture name that people understand and which describes the object well. There's not much to brag about if your precious throne is just a one word in the middle of a long list of resources. Maybe biggest furniture could appear when you enter the room. "You see an elegant chair decorated with carved ornamets, indicating fine workmanship."

I want mattresses. Filled with different things, and the surface made of cloth.

I only said no cloth, as currently the bed only takes raw cotton...

I agree with you Seeks,
In my mind, I see things like beds and armchairs in Cantr as being filled with feathers, cotton or something, and then a cover made using cloth of some kind.

The RD would have to come to some way of arranging it so different materials could be used.
You could have a system where you can make a variety of 'padding (cotton, fur, feathers) each type of padding could be used whenever a piece of furniture requires 'padding'

i.e:Bed:
req 8000g wood
500g iron
2000g cotton cloth
3000g padding
hammer
planer
needle

and that kinda gives a mattress - same 'padding' could be used in armchiars and the futon etc.

The problem is, is that bed is much more difficult to make than the current one - a lot more realistic, yes.

I'd be all for cloth, mattresses etc. in furniture, if it wasn't for the fact that it'd make items of furniture really very difficult to make...
