New Pop-unders?

Postby Doug R. » Wed Nov 09, 2005 1:59 pm

I've logged out a couple of times today, and hitting the logout button brings up annoying popunders. Anyone else getting this?

I've been getting a few pop ups every now and again.

Or Firefox. Firefox has Adblock, which can kill a lot of stuff built-in popup blockers can't.

Yah. I'm using Firefox, and thus have no idea what you guys are talking about. ;)

I'm using Firefox. It blocks everything but popunders (the ones that go under your browser.)

Install the adblock plugin and then just once add the popunder to it, then it won't bother you no more.

No pop-ups, no pop-unders.... and no warning from FF that anything gets blocked.
Maybe you guys need to stop browsing those shady sheep sites

Um, I'm using Firefox too, and regardless of whether I can defeat them, isn't it something we're concerned about, if something on the site (probably a "legit" ad) is having undesireable affects?

As far as I can tell, there isn't an ad on the site that causes it.
It might be one of the sites that some banner links to, or that one of the vote-links links to, where a pop-up/pop-under gets installed, but I vote whenever I see that vote-link, and never got anything from those times either.

Another option might be that some not-so-bright someone made a note with html which points to stuff outside Cantr, that caused it, but I am uncertain there, as I don't know if Cantr would pass that coding.
(I vaguely recall something about no outside images, so this might be a pointer that no outside coding is taken)

Perhaps more could be found out if someone posted some details on what kind of pop-up/pop-under they're getting, or if they looked at their cookies?

The site that keeps popping up is:

http://ilead.itrack.it/clients/Nedstat/ ... ignid=4988

It plays annoying video clips. I've installed adblocker for firefox, but this pop-under seems impervious to it. It's driving me nuts. Something on the Cantr main page is launching it, and I've even blocked all those ads.

Edit: I found about 20 cookies from this site on my computer and blocked them all, so I hope this stops happening. You might not want to follow the link, or you might get it too!

I'm complaining about ads that I can't see because they open up under my browser, and then start screeching video clips, alerting my boss and coworkers that I'm not actually working. I understand that free games need banner ads, but to some extent it is the game's responsibility to protect its players from over the top adverts like this and inappropriate content.
