Hey, look, I hear you guys, and most of my chars are not about accumulating wealth, or power, though of course one or two of them are. I'm just saying that the quality of the roleplaying seems to be declining, even to someone who hasn't been playing that long like me. Part of it may be me -- maybe I'm less receptive or perceptive than I should be.

But fact is, there's a rash of people just up and quitting these days. Whatever you think the game is about, that ought to give you pause. Why are they leaving? I'm just arguing that they may be leaving because the game is becoming less fun, no matter how you approach it.

Doubtful, because this is in the Seatown Lakeside, which is only bordered by two locations, and is nowhere near Quill. I'm pretty certain I know where they came from and why.

Excuse me, you are right, and this was Seatown Lakeside. My fault. But yes, same thing, and the times were so close together, that I am almost certain.

The notebomb was from Brent, a character of racetyme.

My account timed out yesterday, causing Lake Mac Gregor's death at 58-ish years by heart attack. I don't expect to be coming back, though I have been more or less active here, on the wiki and in the IRC while my account has been inactive and will continue to be active.

Died during the 2 months of inactivity preceding the timeout:
Agarwaen Úmarthion
Húrin Thalion
Dior Eluchil
Elu Thingol (Greycloak)
Mogul Finrod Felagund Blackrock

This is like my 3rd account, I've been off and on with this game for like 2-3 years, I just hope this time around I can feel more involved. In fact, the 3 characters I have are themselves more fun and successful (resource and popularity wise) than the 10 or so I had last time, I guess it just takes a little while to find your niche.

YES!!! Thank you! I'm so glad you're dead!

I tried to chat one day, and was accused of being SHO, because I used my forum name AGAR, which one person assumed was AGARWEAN, and another person ENCOURAGED THAT MIS-INFORMATION.

I should consider myself lucky my account wasn't locked.

So, class, what have we learned about cheating?
Reality was never my strong point.

Ha. People used to think I was Nick, too. And they still think I'm a bunch of other people, though I won't get into that. Go ahead and stab those silly people who thought you played Agarwaen, though.

Oh I just can't remember, so far back. Pretty generic names and none of them got very far to be remarkable. I doubt the same thing will happen this time around though.

I definitely didn't notebomb the Lakeside, I had one envelope marked trash, and thats it, I think.

Okay, sorry. We didn't see anyone else die but someone probably starved or something around the same time. They'd left 128 notes all entitled "This is boring" or something. Apparantly they made them all individually (i.e. didn't use the copy function) so I can well imagine it *was* boring. :)

I think the notebomb may have come from one of the hoboes that was killed outside.

Same here.
In the past, I started playing... my fist chars tended to spawn in newspawn-hating places ("Oh look, a newspawn... ready, aim, FIRE!!!" lol) which made me drop out within one or two weeks.
After that (quite some time after that), I had a few times where my chars spawned in somewhat friendlier places, but still they died off too soon (lack of food had become the main cause of death).

This time around, in a relatively short time, most of my chars are going places, in more than one way.
Well, a few still died of starvation or animal attacks, but... those slots were soon filled with fresh meat.
The oldest char I have now, for example...
His first action was to make a joke, that landed him a conversation with some female char... he liked her, she liked him, he followed her around wanting to help her, in the next town found out that she was working for someone who was setting up a company... her boss liked him too, and while the company kinda crashed before it got off the ground, the four people involved are sticking together and working towards some common goals.
Of course, it kinda reeked that secretly he was thinking of building a house in his spawningplace and setting up for a life there, with this woman, while as a group, to meet the common goals we're gonna have to travel for longer times, but.... heck, the future can go anywhere.

To make an end to what could become a long story, this first char on it's own already did much better than all of my previous chars combined.
(not saying who he is, because well... the group still isn't aware of his affection for this woman, and while her and him do spend a lot of time interacting, it's not sure that she's fully aware of it either... heh...)

* Edit: corrected a typo which might have gotten me in trouble with some of the more ummmm.... prude people
