Greiving...
I am sad...so very sad....I feel like a monster...I feel like it is all my fault. I loved her..so very much. She made me laugh..she made me smile...she will forever live in my heart...
I did what I thought was right for her...She was such a loving kitty, and I know she loved me..so how could I do this to her? I know she was suffering...I know she was in pain...The vet said...not good odds....What am I going to do without her....Why did I....why couldn't I....why? why? why?

Well, her spine was broken.

Sunni, I just had a similar issue not even a month ago. We got Cocoa from the SPCA, and they didn't know how old he was. Apparently he was a lot older than they thought. We had him for about two years, and then he started losing hair, and it looked like he had cataracts. He had bad arthritis in his hips and when we took him to the humane society, they said it looked like he had diabetes. I didn't know dogs could get diabetes, but apparently they can. They wouldn't take him, cause he was too old. So we had to have him put down. I think it was about two weeks ago actually. Pretty hard stuff to deal with. But it wasn't fair to him to keep him alive with all that was wrong with him. He really didn't look like he would last longer than about a year or so.
Hey, your kitten is not suffering any more, just like Cocoa isn't. I know it's hard to deal with, but I think it's better to end it rather than to let them suffer more.

Awkward: Having your phone go off full volume during a funeral.
Even more awkward: Your ringtone being "I Will Survive"
The most awkward: Coming back after a 10+ year hiatus and swearing I'd never come back.

*hugs* I fel for you... I had to make to decision to put down my beloved Arabian mare this July, my best friend for 10 years.... She got West Nile and though we tried for 6 hours to get her off the ground (her hindquarters were paralized) it was to severe.
It was scary - she had her shots and everything, one day she was fine and the next I found her on the ground. The doc said that the shots still weren't 100% - a waring to all with animals in areas known for West Nile.
Fortunately I have her yearling son to hand on to.

My condolences, Sunni. It's always hard to part with a dear friend.
I know your little kitty forgives and understands. There's no pain where she is now, rubbing up against that big leg in the sky.
The little one may be gone, but the memory of the joyful times with her gets to stay with you.

Beatings will continue until morale improves!!
