Caves and monsters?

Postby MrPenguin589 » Sun Oct 30, 2005 7:18 am

I know lots of people will argue against this, as almost everyone that plays Cantr don't want any form of AI introduced, but I would like to see something like, you know, lairs or caves. With monsters (goblins, orcs, etc.) in them. These (caves) would be located under "Location" like beneath the resources. And sometimes the monsters would come out and (attempt to) pillage the town. And if they were capable of the mugging and mobbing thing I saw in another suggestion, things could get pretty interesting. Perhaps these would only exist in mountains and swamps and stuff. But I just thought it'd be pretty cool to see. But like I said, not many people want to see any AI in Cantr, soooo... ya. That's it.

Caves? Good. Goblins and other fantasy monsters? Dear god no, not in Cantr!!! There could be cave bears and bats and the chance to get lost and naturally there wouldn't be any food besides maybe a bit of lichen. And cave-ins, which are not edible but anyway the point is you don't need monsters for a deadly cave.

Caves would be hard, I think requiring free roaming to do. I like the caves though, they would make good bandit headquarters.

They would likely just be implemented like new locations in mountainous regions and look and work exactly like new towns. *shrugs*

If free roaming was implemented we could have real cave systems, located in random parts of the map.

I think it'll make more sense to be applied when Cantr is down the roadmap to a free roam style game.

Well, what about a cave being in a mountainous location, or near the sea, but it would operate just like a building? But you couldn't lock it our anything. Or knock on the door. I dunno.

Why can you dig a cave in the mountains and not in the grassland? Aside from that, he is talking about natural cave systems which you can get lost in, etc. Meaning they would have to be implemented after free roaming.
