We kind of removed that on purpose, because it was such a high server load when they were sent out ....

Well, if turn reports, especially long ones, were being sent to every single player, yes I could see how the server could start having issues. And none of us want the server to have issues, or go back to where you could play a leisurly game of solitare between page loads (I used to)

But with these turn reports being shorter, do you think it would still bog the server down to have only the players that have subscribed to the turn reports because they use them to get them? That's a smaller segment than everyone, and with smaller turn reports, that might not be too huge a load.

I could see a problem arising from people that subscribe and then forget about it, just keep deleting the turn reports out of there mail like spam and not useing them, while putting load on the server. Maybe to cut down on that, the turn report subscription could only last for a limited time before the player has to subscribe again, so people sleeping to death aren't putting load on the server either. It could be an easy twenty day subscription, so after twenty days, the server load from sleepers is gone.

Would that still be too much for the server?

I really would like Agar's idea, just to take the pressure off of trying to remember to check in frequently enough to catch all the turn reports, especially when on an extended vacation. And if having single day reports will significantly decrease the load, then I think it would be worth considering.

Actually, since everyone is going to have their own opinion on this, would it be possible to have settings we can edit in our account profile. The default could be, no autosend - single day reports. We could have the option of including up to five days or having them autosent. That way everyone will be happy, and there is good probability that we will avoid server overload via massive autosending multiple day novels of turn reports to every player. *mumbles something about Lake Village, Kwor, and Karnon bogging his logs, and is apprecaitive he has never seen Siom* :D

EDIT: I apologize for being in a hurry and inadvertently reproposing Agar's idea right above mine.

What about having turn reports automatically sent when your account is set to be 'on leave'? That way we avoid mass subscriptions, but we do have a service for people on holiday ...

*Nods* That'll be a start Jos. I'll go along with that and we'll see how hard keeping up with the turn reports is.

If you didn't know, I just got my weeklyish turn report and it only contained a day, so I guess the change has taken into effect...Luckly, I don't think I lost anything.

I've wanted to join G-mail for a while, but don't have a cell phone to get the authorization key or whatever it was, think you could send me an invite as well?
