Yeah, that organisation is rather disappointing. Um managed to rob them quite well, I remember.

And I managed to rob Um. *shakes fist* Damn those lions.

Does that mean you got someone in LV? Hmm...

Anyway, Joanna is always making awkward questions, bringing in an outlandish way of thinking that she should be entitled to all sorts of benefits, without realizing that acquiring them is very slow and most other people don't have them either, so why should she? (lol Now why does that sound so familiar?) Ok, characters like that keep the world moving on but it's frustrating to witness. These patterns of thinking are from the real world, but funny though, ingame we imagine them as Quillanoi way of thinking and get a reason to hate those citizen fancypants even more.

Lately she was asking for a bike - how many newspawns are given a bike? The only way a newspawn gets a bike is by stealing. But if I had a bike, I'd be all ready to give it to her just to get rid of her. She also believes that there's cotton in Brunoi, because some old map said so. But there are plenty of people who have travelled between LV and Brunoi so by this time it would become apparent that there is no cotton anymore. But would she believe that? Nope, she has to see it with her own eyes.

Oh man! LV is so irritating yet so fantastic!

Joanna manages to drive me nuts indirectly by annoying my characters wife to the point she has to run to him for sanity! Bravo! And she is trying to trade and actually get some wealth coming into the town? That is entirely unacceptable. If there was actual work to be done in town, then we couldn't have all of those wonderfully intelligent conversations going on out in the yard. A brilliant example of the social dangers of overgenerous welfare policies?

This isn't directed at anyone in particular, but I read a new note as evidence in a trial of sorts that just made me angry. The player copied everything from their events page and pasted it into the note. My character almost ridiculed that character except there was a line saying to read from the bottom up. That's just lazy. And irritating. Irritatingly lazy.

Unfortunately stuff like that happens all over. People think that events can only be trusted if they are copied straight from the events page unaltered - and that's sort of a CRB since it's like a video film instead of a story. Your character couldn't possibly remember all the details.

I guess you guys never heard of transcripts? They use them in court all the time.

What bothers me is not so much the use of raw logs, but their use as incontrovertible proof. Never should a person be acknowledged as the rightful owner of a pile of resources on the ground merely because he says so, whether or not he says it in plain speech or the form of a Cantr event log.

I have a dispute over one of these even't logs going right now, once the four day rule is up and my character is out of danger I will tell you all what happened, it's a great story.

I've done the ficticous event log before to claim resources. It's great when you've seen the rightful worker has been sleeping alot, or better yet, you're leaving town, by boat. Even some of the hardest working law officers have a hard time justifying sending out a boarding party to bring a ship back to port over a few days potatoes.

I always use Cantr speak to say that the pile of resources on the ground were mine.
Also, I might say 256g of that wood was mine, but really I took 4000. ;-)

I never ever say the "project X finished, ending up on the ground" crap. But I tend to sometimes pick for example 1217 grams and drop 217, it looks like a reasonable number so no one will notice the missing digit. Round numbers look suspicious but not messy ones.

El_Skwidd, what character are you in the trial debacle? I assume it is the one I am involved with.

My char is actually not involved at all... he was just curious and read the notes that were dropped. He's busy with other things and isn't going to get involved, but the copy/pasting annoyed me as a player.

But there's another thread on that.
