NO UPDATES

Postby julie2 » Thu Oct 20, 2005 11:32 pm

It must be at least 3 Cantrian hours since any of my projects updated.

And whilst we're on the subject...travelling only updates 7 times a day, these days, not 8 as it should. Seems to be the four o'clock update that gets missed usually, but I'm fairly sure the one after that got missed out instead, onc or twice.

Julie, we have a thread for these sort of things, no need for new topics here.

The Proejct Progress issue has been fixed and is waiting rolling out to the production environment.

We also have a fix for the missing 8th travel processing period . Again this is just waiting for a rollout

... what?

Let me get this straight, you're waiting on a roll-out for a bug fix?

That sounds like any change you make to the code is done on a test environment before being moved to the production environment. If that's true - why wasn't the problem with project progress discovered on the test environment, and why couldn't you roll the production environment back to before the progress bug was there?

Essentially I made the fix and have the ability/privilages to change the source code and commit it to the repositary - I don't have the ability to export this change to the production environment , or roll it back to an earlier version . Staff members who do have these powers have been notified . I was keeping people informed of progress in this case.

Sorry if I seemed a little annoyed last night. It's just that (to me, at least) time is the most valuable commodity there is in Cantr. :)

Out of morbid curiousity, can you tell us what caused that bug?

a missing semi-colon

EDIT:
A wide range of source code was changed to overcome the MySQL bugs in the events page - All code where objects are destroyed, worn, buried, used in projects, etc . The errors should dissappear as the events finally time out (in 6 or so days time) . Extensive testing of the new code was done over 2 weeks before rolling out - but primarily in the interactive parts . The background processes such as the projects processing are currently harder to test - this one issue was missed resulting in projects not being processed
