Body on bike (again)

Postby julie2 » Sun Oct 16, 2005 11:53 pm

This has been raised before, but itwan't my bike or my body, and no general solution to the problem was offered

OK. Oneof my chars can't access a bike belonging to her company. The message says there's too much weight inside. I suspect that one of her colleagues got onto the bike and died there. That would explain his mysterious disappearance. But how is possible even to check this theory, let alone get the supposed body off the bike, to give him a decent burial and free up the bike for future use?

The "general solution" is to cry for help. Well done.

And yes, it would be nice to have a real solution for this problem.

Sorry Chris. I lost my phomne line, just as I was about to reply, but it's fixed now.

The Bike in question is Siom Stel Inc. 2, currently in Reniov Mountains...presumablly. My character has moved on, and isn't likely to get another chance to check it for a while. So maybe it's best if any answer to the query is posted here, as several other characters have an interest in this bike, at least one of whom (Sameer Perth) should be on the spot.

The character whom I suspect might be stuck on the bike is known as Timo.if that helps. I don't know if the bike is locked or unlocked. If unlocked, can you please deal with carefully, as it might then be vulnerable to theft. My char has a key, so should Sameer...unles he gave it to Timo *winces *

It looks like the problem has been fixed already - there is now no body on "Siom Steel Inc 2"

Thanks :D

Of course, there might not even have BEEN a body. Just putting two and two together as best I could. If I come back and find the same problem, it's nice to be able to rule that out. (the other option is that somone left an awful lot of stuff on it, of course, and that Timo either walked off (unlikely, given two alternative bikes to ride away on ) or got buried already .

By the way, do bodies FALL OFF bikes when the chatr dies , nowadays? I happen to have a char in a location where they're swearing blind, that's what happenened. This guy was on a motorbike, and fell off when he died, so they say. And if that's true, what beecmes of their possessions? Do they fall on the bike, or on the ground? (Nobody admits to picking up the key for the thing, of couse...but hold on, that might actualy be true, huh? )

No, currently people who die on vehicles stay on those vehicles. Their possessions (including keys) fall to the ground inside the vehicle . Any locks are left in the same state

This happens whether they are travelling or not . However , as you are aware, ProgD do move bodies on request - Maybe that's what you saw ? .... I've personally moved at least one body from a dirt bike in the past 2 weeks .

When ProgD 'clear' bikes we limit the action to moving the body/bodies to the outside ground - No possesions are moved (aside from clothes being worn by the body) nor are locks changed from locked to unlocked or vice-versa

There is good cause for an in game method of removing bodies from bikes/buildings. Maybe people should be allowed to drag bodies from the outside of a building/vehicle (assuming it's not locked) There are ,on average, about 2 to 3 support requests of this type per week . Managable , but not ideal ... but then again what would ProgD have to do if we weren't clearing bikes for players

I've made the suggestion on being able to drag resource/objects to/from vehicles/boats/buildings to reduce the number of pages you have to click to store items and to remove the need for staff intervention whit clogged buildings.

Sadly not alot of people were interested in it.

I'm interested, for what that's worth.

As I've pointed out, what we currently call "dragging" is actually PUSHING not dragging. It's a necessary option, I think, but so is actual dragging a necessary option.
