The Statue of Liberty seems to take after Greek mythology rather than Christianity.

Actually, you're half way right. It's actually impolite everywhere, apparently. But, alas, I rarely worry about how I'm viewed (that's why I'm a social failure) unless I've done something wrong. Then I usually apologize (again a social failure).
