Kids in Cantr (once more)
This is about you. Not about the stupid newbies stealing notes, not about "all the others" who'd ruin the game because they don't want to see children in game. But you. Could you play a child? And this means a bit older than a baby, can talk and walk but has some limitations.

I don't know how to vote yet.
Either Yes definatly, or No I'd overact and piss people off.
See, The dilema is I have three boys, 9, 3, and 1, to base my actions off of. Kids will overact and piss people off, it's an attention getting device. Kids also behave differently when working with adults and when working with other kids, even in the presence of adults.
I don't think most of the players in cantr would know how to deal with kids. There are a number of people with kids playing this, but a lot of the players are kids.
We'll see how it turns out. My short answer is yes, I'll play, but not unrealisticly. Kids I play will be true to life, and some people will think that's unrealistic.

Reality was never my strong point.

For now, I'm voting that I won't even try. I have several doubts. One is that I have doubt in the overall Cantr populace to play "children," let alone spawns. Two is, as you said it was about me, I have no intention of playing "children" as I probably won't believe in the way they are implemented. I realize you're trying to soft-coat the idea of children into very deliberate questions as to raise the idea from the back of people's minds, so I'll add this: ideally, would children be a good idea in a Cantr society simulator? Definitely. But like I put it before, in all my pessimism, I don't have confidence in Cantr players to play these sort of characters.

I play to do exiting, risky, crazy things. I play because I can't just go steal a boat and murder people in real life. Nor do I want to. But it is a fun thing to play. I don't want to play children, I want to do the things my characters decide they want to do.

Even if I could play children, I probably wouldn't.
Reasoning: Cantr societies will probably treat children either as they are treated in real life (like most good ideas in Cantr), ignore them (like coins), or exploit with no regard to realism (like tool repair projects used as storage). The first way, playing a child will be filled with lame huggy-feely RP of the sort Nick and company detest. The second way, I'll have a weak newspawn with limited actions. The third way is going to be lots of pain. Either way, no fun in it for me.

Um...
I think both hold...I don't think I'd ever play one if I had the choice, but I probably could...maybe not well, but I probably could.
You've mixed 'could you' with 'would you' in this vote...
Incidentally, you should provide some more detailed terms. A 2-5 year old is a very different proposition from a 10 year old...
-Most likely
-Only if there was no other choice to get a character

I guess the difference is a 10 year old can press keys in some resemblence of known words.

Hey, newspawns are also weak and vulnerable. Phoenix could kill a whole bunch of them if it wasn't for tiredness and one hit per day limitation. But if people would have parents, there would be someone to protect them in their early days. And also if you're a couple of feet tall, you're a smaller target, harder to hit.

A bad thought just poped into my mind. What if you get spawned as a child in an area that already has one of your characters well established? If it was a 20 year old you could just move him or be a bad roleplayer and try to kill them off.
