I'd be happy just being able to see direction land is in. Never really noticed it before, but one of my chars is on a long sea voyage, and just barely caught a glimce of a place to dock, if the direction was visible I wouldn't be backtracking for a few hours to find it again.
As for those who use trig, I have to ask, why bother? I've relied on my wits and sense of direction the entire time I've played, currently have 5 chars with boats, killed off probably a dozen chars with boats in the past, and I've never had a problem with navigation.

I knew it had come up somewhere...Sho wrote:3. Ships in view but not dockable to should be displayed as well.
This'd be useful - especially if trying to follow a boat that you can't dock with...

I still think that we should be able to tell our speed using some sort of device. Because trigonometry is fairly useless if we can't tell how far we've gone. I could work it out if the speed was constant but wieght varies the speed...and seeing as we are always eating our cargo it makes it fairly difficult to work out how far we've gone.

as i think it was said earleyer triganomatry shoud be a skill for the charecter i suggest that our cantrs can tell us an approxemet value of all the distance the more they travel the more they sail the more acurate they can be.
why are we talking about trigonomentry? if the origanal suggestion is implemented there will be no reson for trigonometry.
