Digitial Camera

Postby rklenseth » Sun Nov 30, 2003 6:28 pm

Is it better on a digitial camera if the megapixels are higher or lower. I think it is higher (at least that is how it is with a video camera) but I just wanted to make sure first.

And is there really any difference between a digitial zoom and a optical zoom or don't they just work the same.

i think ure rite on the pixels.

optical zoom is phyiscally adjusting the lenses to zoom in, while digital zoom is just enhancing the image and enlarging in the same way as resizing an image in an editor

Thanks.

I know how the zooms work but is there really a difference in quality of the picture? I can't imagine there is but there might.

digital zoom isn't as good as in the same way a JPEG becomes pixelated when you zoom in on it, so does an image off a digital zoom, it works in the same way i think

That last post is confusing, Solfius. Don't you mean optical zoom for one of the digital zooms there?

I heard that...

3.something megapixels is good enough for a photo quality 8 x 10

5 megapixels is the same as using film which records more infomation than what can be seen in an 8 x 10 print.

Film camera's rule. Still, there's digital ones (professional) that match the quality of film cam's, but i don't ever want to see mastercard mail after that.

For sum nice pictures on my computer I use my digital videocam. But otherwise than that i still dont want any digital cams.

Well, I have an Nikon N55 and it's pretty good. I've seen some digital camera photos and sometimes I think they look like crap. The only reason why I would get a digital camera is to post pictures on the internet because they take up less room then a scanned photo but I'm usually not in the habit of posting pictures on the internet. But my parents want a digital camera and I thought I would get them a nice one for Christmas. The problem is that I don't know much about digital cameras. I know about film speed, aperture, and the whole nine yards for cameras that require film but that doesn't help me in this case.

Buy the smallest and shinyest. (Damn, i need a dictionary).

Nah, just buy a cam magazine and read some reviews, or find them on the internet. I think the reviewers know a lot more about it than us.

Shiniest, I think. :? Can't be shinniest. Won't sound right. Though maybe we should ask our English friends because it was their ancestors that created the damn language.

And if we really wanted to we could blame the Germans for creating a basis for the English language and then Latin speaking people and the languages that branch off of that for adding to it. And then all of the Celtic languages that were assimilated into the English language and Shakespeare for creating about half the words for the English language. And then the Phonecians for creating the phonic alphabet.

Did I miss anyone? :D

Oh, and us Americans for changing it again. But then we Americans would blame it on Canada and the Canadians would blame it on the French who would put the blame on the Germans again. And the Germans would blame the Russians and the Russians would blame the Polish and the Polish would blame everyone else. And this could keep going on and on and one and one and one and on and on and on and one and one and one and on on and on and one and one and one and on and on and on and one and one and one and on on and on and one and one and one and on and on and on and one and one and one and on on and on and one and one and one and on and on and on and one and one and one and on on and on and one and one and one and on and on and on and one and one and one and on on and on and one and one and one and on and on and on and one and one and one and on........

And before you know it war would break out and would last a hundred years and by the end of the war nobody will remember why we fought it. :D
