How about instead of women having babies....
They lay eggs? Then maybe a year later or so when someone wants to create a new character, the character jumps out of the egg.
That way we won't have to deal with babies and children running around cantr.
Also the eggs should be objects that someone can carry or drop on the ground or give so that people can sell them.
We'd have little whore shops pop up all over the place.
I love it.

*beats head on desk for a while*
Either you are going to create amazon societies, since only the women are laying the eggs, or the men have to get jiggy with eggs. Bad in either case.
And if we can't make scrambled eggs yet, That needs to get done.
This is a strange sick idea, which is rather funny. People Eggs are bad.

I have characters who are going to have a field day hunting babies, depending on how they are implemented.
And I can't even begin to imagine how they are going to do that whole "beast with two backs" bit to determine who's going to be having babies and who isn't.
If we have to go through all that trouble anyway, I'd rather see babies popping out instead of eggs.

What would be most fair would be -- both in real life and in Cantr -- if when two people had sex, either one could become pregnant, but there was no way of telling in advance which one it would be.
Or, in this case, either one could end up laying the egg.
But if there had to be an egg for a new character to be spawned, some people would never be spawed... after all, why would anyone want to lay these eggs?

Either you don't have kids, or you have to many kids.
Societies will need to develop with children running amok in order to be societies. Kids will be kids. The will smack themselves with a saber to see what it does. They will poke bears. They will borrow daddy's dirt bike to see how fast it goes. This is all going to have to be part of cantr if it ever wants to keep calling itself a society simulator, failure or not.
If we put eggs down in thier place, it'd be like modern doctors telling us we could keep out children in medically induced comas untill they're 14 and then having thier potty training and education outsourced so that they spring into existance as ready made minions.
We need the little rugrats. Ankle biters will provide a place in cantr that can't be filled by anything else, except a good pet.

Whose to say that cantrarians have to have babies though? Why can't there be a society simulator of an egg laying population rather than a baby filled population? Cantr is not an EARTH society simulator, it's a society simulator.
And really to be honest...will there be that big a difference between children and eggs? I mean children won't be able to steal dirt bikes or any of that unless the staff is programming that idea for AI controlled children into the game or the children are controlled by real people. Neither of which I think are likely. So the only difference will be that eggs can be picked up and dragged along incase a family wants to move somewhere as opposed to children being highly immobile. Also Agar, i'm sure if you want to destroy eggs that would be an option in the game if children were going to be able to be attacked too.

Ok, if children would not be played by people then I'd rather call them eggs. Since Cantr has no NPC characters and never should have. If I have no trouble playing a two-year-old then why should everybody else have? It's just like playing a retard exept that you have a chance to grow. And kids should have limitations, for example can't drive vehicles.

Eggs rarely have twins in them. But you could lay several eggs, and not all of them would hatch into people. If you'd want no newspawns in town, you could carry the eggs to neighbouring towns or smash them.
In opposed to internal pregnancy: The time of expecting would be longer, you would know approximately when to expect the child being born. Every new person would have at least one parent to take care of them, and if it was a newbie in question, they could also get OOC guidance from that person if necessary. Because new kids would be rather small in the beginning, they could be picked up by other characters, which would prevent them from picking up notes and going into buildings. Naturally you could squirm off in a while but then someone could pick you up again if needed.
Oooh, I so wanna go into someone's inventory! That sounds safe and comfy... Mmm, inventories... *cuddles up*

Racetyme, for the 4th time in this thread I am solidifying that is IS NOT a post discussing whether or not babies or eggs are a good idea but rather that instead of having babies we have eggs.
