If your wanting to build a machine for repairing I would suggest a Linisher, basiclly its a big sanding machine, Ive used it for smoothing out g-clamps, candle stick holders and metal chairs.

at a guess it would require
1200g Iron (thats a complete stab in the dark)
20g Rubber
40g Sand
Screwdriver to make

Now that I think about there isn't actually a reason why its made out of Iron, all the Iron is just structural, so alot of wood could work just as, or stone.

There already is a machine called a sharpening block.
Although it would be cool if it had a use, maybe.

On the pessimistic side, I don't see a feasible way to program it so repair increases would be realistic. Unless to repair the item, you needed the same items as you used to make it.

Otherwise, I can't think of an item that would repair anything. Sandpaper just isn't going to help you repair a sword any faster, although you can repair it by hand right now so...

If you have the tools needed to make the item then the repair should be hugely faster, sharpening a sword with a hammer is a lot easier than with you bare hands. Realistically, of course, a file would be the best.

For a sword. But what about for a stone hammer? Is a file really going to repair a stone hammer?

Who cares? Cantr alredy has the sports car when people are still using the saber. WHY NOT ADD THIS?

But a file could help with chiping some of the rust of ov the hammer.. so that is how it could work in real life.

I do, and I hope and assume the ProgD does too.
Saying that there are unrealistic things in Cantr does not mean we should make it more unrealistic.

Why not, if it would make the game more enjoyable?

I still think the use of tools to increase repair rates..would not be a benefical addition to Cantr. for the same reasons I posted before

Ok, so the duct tape post was a joke.

Now that I think about it, you definitely can't use sand paper to repair everything, so in order to be even remotely believable you would have to have different tools to repair different items. I like the idea of machines better because, as of now, machines don't deteriorate. You could even stretch it so far as to include sand paper, sharpening blocks, and whatever else into one all-purpose repair-o-matic machine.

I think that would be great. It wouldn't be realistic, but who cares? It would provide new opportunities for jobs and create more character to character interaction, which, may I remind you, is the purpose of cantr.

I still think a table is a good all-purpose repair machine if you think about it. It's much easier to repair anything (hammer, sword, etc.) if you can put it down on a table.

You could also add a machine called a vice (which I really hope I don't have to explain) to increase repairs by a bit. These 'repair machines' shouldn't be increasing speed by a thousand fold, but just speed up the repair by a few hours.

I like the table idea. And since you need a building to put it in it might also increase the number of actual repair shops, instead of the current 'carry everything but the kitchen sink around everywhere you go and then waste all your time repairing it yourself' thing we're currently seeing.

I like it. I mean the table and vice idea, not all this sandpaper crap that has been flying about.

Ok a list of things you would find in a d.t room (tools)

Vice(a thing with a twistey thing to clamp in materials File (a metal one not those littel things some girs use on there nails)
saw (do i need to explain what a saw is)

there is something to polish stuff wish i dont know the name i will tell you next week becase how can a thing look brand new if its got dirt on it

there is a type of saw for cutting curves

materials should help repairs but NOT be nessesery cantrs trapse all around the world to get some wepon materials they dont want to do it every time something needs repairing.

DISCAMER:I DONT THINK ALL OF THESE TOOLS ARE GOOD I JUST WANTED TO HAVE AN IDEA THAT MIGHT BE DEBATED
