Reading notes in an envelope

Postby Oasis » Sun Oct 02, 2005 6:38 pm

I think it would be much easier if you could read the contents of a note while it remains in an envelope. It is very cumbersome having to empty it first, then find the one you want, if the titles don't give you that knowledge. Or, if your inventory is so full of notes (because we don't have the check boxes yet), that you can 't find it when you do take it out of the envelope.

You wouldn't be able to edit it while still in the envelope, of course, but just read it.

Just make sure it doesn't bypass seals.

This is pretty much obsolete as soon as easy note to envelope transfer is invented, and I would rather have that, so I think this is just superflous.

Why is that, Racetyme? I see it as even more necessary then, as all my charries notes will be in envelopes then, thus the need to read without emptying more of a need.

Just take out the note you want to read. If every time you looked at an envelope you could see the writing on all of the pages it would start taking ten rl years to load some of the trash envelopes around.

I think the suggestion is just to have a read button next to notes while they're still in envelopes, not to display the content of all the notes.

It's probably best if the envelopes have to be examined for the note titles to show up, rather than just displaying them, to avoid a slightly smaller version of the problem Racetyme just mentioned.

Basically this makes removing the note and then replacing it once you've read it implied actions, the way 'phasing through' a locked door implies unlocking, opening, closing, and relocking it.

Well said ornithopter, that's what I think too.

Sounds fine to me, don't really see it as necessary for my chars but maybe someone else is in a different situation than me.

Agreed.

Kind of stupid really, to be able to read notes that are inside envelopes.
