Might speed some things up a bit, like the resource dept. If they have more members, the might be able to implement some ideas faster and start placing the newer materials on the first idea to balance things. I would do that if i was on the resource dept
It's not that easy.

As Oasis was describing earlier, GAC has to weigh it's opinion on the matter as well as the Chair of the Department. This takes a while, supposedly.

Also, keep in mind they have to consider other factors, as well, from player experience to spending the time training the staff member.

there doesn't need much staff training in the resource dept do they? I would realise that the most staff training would be to the programming dept right?

There is a lot of training required for the Resource Dept., warfreak. And a lot of responsibility, trust, and intelligence required.

And Nitefyre is right, it is not a simple yay or nay, but a serious consideration by several people of all applicants. Some of whom are not always available. Just because we are hiring volunteers does not mean our standards are lower than if we were hiring paid help.

I appreciate your suggestions on how to improve the process, however they are mostly in place already. Circumstances, such as one member losing their internet, the others being away/extremely busy, have been unavoidable. I am doing my best to get caught up. Everyone's patience is appreciated. :)

Indeed, warfreak, applications take a bit of time. Each applicatant is at least reviewed by the respective dept. chair, at least one person who checks the PD file, and at least a few GAB or GAC members. If there is nobody objecting, it requires some GAB work in terms of subscribing to lists, informing everybody, etc.

We do take this rather seriously, and yes, there is a bit of an issue of many senior staff members being often offline, but that is simply unavoidable.

Remember there were just two hurricanes and a lot of people are down in that area or know others who are, might take precedence over a game. Also I would also think that patience is a fairly weighty attribute to have when dealing with a large group of people living in many different places all trying to make one thing work.

I wasn't accepted to my position for a few months. In the meantime, just play Cantr and post on the forums. :)

You know, that issue really has to be addressed. At least one member of personnel should check their emails regulaly enough to send out "Your application has been received and is being processed. This may take several weeks, but thank you for bearing with us and wanting to help Cantr II" to all applications.

Even with volunteer positions come with responsibility, and I am not entirely sure they are fulfilling that responsibility right now... :?

Unless it requires effort. Then, you can give up.
Just kidding, don't ever take anything I say seriously.
Except that.
And that.
And that....

Please don't give up, I assure you that the staff are trying their hardest to do this as quickly as possible.

And it is worth the wait.

Thank you for understanding.
