If my character hits an animal "with a bone club which looses 12 strength",
is it the club that looses strength or the animal? Does the amount of strength lost indicate this characters skill at hunting with that weapon or the general strength of the weapon. I don't want my weapons to break because I was ignorant of that.
My character would be able to tell if his/her weapon was breaking a lot better than I can so I'm a bit worried about it.

The figure is the amount of damage done to the animal , not the weapon .
Currently weapons and tools only deteriorate over time, not due to use.
There is also an adjective before the word hurt which gives some indication of your characters' skills at hunting
The skill levels are Awkwardly, Novicely, Efficiently, Skillfully and Expertly
