Decipher This?

Postby nitefyre » Thu Sep 29, 2005 1:04 am

Code: Select all

0.332 seconds taken, 66 queries executed (SQL took 0.254 seconds - 76.6%).

So, that's recently been appearing at the bottom of my Cantr webpages. Is it supposed to be public?

If so...

What does it mean? It has me very curious. :-)

its like google, to see how fast it took to do the selected action. I don't think we are meant to see it. What i can see from this is the time taken to process the action, the amount of queries used on the SQL database and how long that took. The percentage i would think is the amount of SQL database power used out of a possible 100%. The seconds taken at the first is the length of the whole action in total that the browser took

I don't see why we couldn't see that. It's a viable server statistic. I know of a few sites that make little runtime stats like that publicly viewable. Also gives you an idea of just how much programming goes into the game.

I like it, it lets me see whether it is flizzle or my comp that is slipping. It has always been flizzle. Maybe we should get some more bandwith for the game set up?

Do you donate money regularily to the game Racetyme?
Think about starting, before you banter on about bandwith.

... I wish I could donate. :( But I'm a poor 16 year old as it is.

This is correct (at least what it is) . ProgD are currently running a series of timing benchmarks , so that we can address the known issues of server performance. We were aware that players could see this and saw no problem with allowing them to see it (so that bit in the quote is incorrect)

This will probably be a temporary feature

Well, you were almost right :P ... the percentage is the amount of time of the execution that was dedicated to SQL queries instead of PHP script processing ...
