The sneezes are awesome.
They are mostly just a nuisance, and not nearly as fatal as some characters make them out to be. I wish we had a few more diseases programmed in to make life a bit more interesting.

Suggestions are welcome ... just email them to me personally
I mean, I can think of many disease, but what I need ideas for is what effects they could have in Cantr, that is relatively easy to implement. E.g. tiredness increase is easy to implement. Death is too

I agree, they do make things interesting.......but it is very frustrating, when there is no cure able to be found. Back when the sneezes zapped a persons energy to nil, starvation of an entire town became a stark possibility. We never did discover any cure, even though every possible solution was thought of and tested, but they eventually went away anyways.......at least, until they came back.

Rest was the best medicine we could think of for the sneezing.
As for other ideas...
Maybe a disease that was less contagious could do what sneezing did when it was first implemented... (ie: zap you to near 100% tiredness. And maybe the recovery is ultra slow?)
Then there's always a disease that could directly affect your health... say, 2 damage a day for 20 days? Or worse ones that are 5 damage a day for 20 days (lethal unless treated).
Maybe particularly bad diseases, equivalent to the Plague, would do something like 5 damage per day for 20 days and on top of that, would negate your ability to heal through normal healing foods. You'd require some sort of particular medicine to stop the effects and regain your healing ability. (The apothecary table could finally be put to use.... of course we STILL don't know where all those special resources are, through no small part in trying. Those resource should start appearing in the old lands as well. /mini rant)

I in no way want to see diseases appear that can only be cured by making concoctions using only the ingredients of items that can't be found on the old islands! Talk about erradicating the masses.
I'll join you in your little rant, AoM. I'll never get to use my apothecary table, for my char who has one will not only never become a sailor to find these new lands, but lives inland, so these new items will never find their way to them until the coastal towns become so saturated with them, no one wants them, and are then willing to trade them inland. (so, never)

I agree, nothing of that sort should be implemented until the ability to cure it is widespread enough that people who put their mind to it could prevent needless death.
However, a neat thing to do would be to make such a disease the product of exploring a new land. So... just as the sneezing had its origins in the Sjoftich hill regions, these more violent diseases could have their origin in the new lands where the cures are.
The only way for someone to bring the disease back to the old world would be to catch it in the new lands, then come home and pass it on before they died. Hopefully, they would bring back samples of all those cool resources that could be used to stop the disease as well.

Yay, lets have a monkey plague! Well, there are no monkeys in Cantr to my knowledge, but some mammal on the undiscovered islands could develop a disease that can jump into humans. It might even wipe out whole populations, but maybe newspawns born on the region where the disease originated from would be immune since you might suspect they've gotten smaller infections in their (imaginary) childhood.
