A MARKET!!!

Postby Pie » Wed Sep 14, 2005 11:20 pm

so... Lets just dive in... shall we?

I have seen an increas of trading in cantr... and i thing one of these is needed to expanentialy(big misspelld word) increas the amount of trading in cantr.

I am not suggesting a new building.. i am sugesting a market place. so in the town square.. or in any building that will hold one.. you can build a stall(much like carnival stalls) it would take 50g of wood... maby 100... and if you want a fancy one... make it 100g of wood 20g of cloth.

And they are located in the location button.. and in the location, or building, or object place.. you can look at it and see what is on top of it(fruit.. iron... swords... stuff like that) the holding capasaty of one of these stalls could be hyer with some baskets of som sort... But thats for another topic.

and it will be EASY to make. all you need to do is to make a new building.. and make it so you walk into one of these stalls.. exept your just walking up to one of them.. and a mesage will apeer*you see a man in his twentys walking up to the stall"swords and stuff"* somthing like that.

and lets just face it.. you arent going to be able to yell out SWORDS FOR SALE every hour, so why dont you make a stall named SWORDS FOR SALE!!!

I like this idea, but I think you should only be able to build these inside a building, otherwise the locations/objects areas would just get impossible cluttered, in my mind more trouble than it is worth.

It's not really clear to me what this is, but it sounds like a barrel (granted, with the ability to store tools).

more like a stall... like one of those things at carnivals.. with the tent.. and the tables to hold all of the cheap jewlry in.

And what will the point be if you have a stall named SWORDS FOR SAIL in a building if it isn't in the town square?

You could pull the same thing off with exixting buildings, though it would be a bit more costly in terms of materials. I don't think the advantage would be worth the extra programming, though. You'll use the same number of clicks to accomplish essentially the same thing.

Yes, but you wouldn't have to rely on other people to tell you what they have for trade and sale, and you wouldn't have to be bombarded by traders spiels, they would just tell you they are setting up a stall and you can go look yourself.

Advertising notes...

Objects cannot currently be stored in storage. Which is essentially what you're proposing; a barrell by a different name.

well... all you really have to do is make this a verry VERRY small building, and make it so people can read a sighnt outside. GREAT for traveling traders, it will only cost about 100g of wood.. and will be able to be distroyd!!! or just turnd into the 100g of wood it came from.

and really.. you can just "RP" that the stuff you put on the ground in the stall is really on many of tables. either that.. or you can make it so you can put stuff on tables.. lay your lunch doun on that barral.. choos were to but your iron sword.. that sort of stuff.

i understand what your saying, but theres a problem...
if you can see the swords or whatever, there out in the open, aren't they? so then someone might just walk up and steal it.
which leads me to my suggestion... you need to have some way to lock the objects to the stall. so you could only take the item if you have the key, or if you unlock it. it could also be broken with a crowbar. :? just a suggestion
All of my endings are waiting to begin.

my frend.. there is also that problem with having a store. they have to ceep the doors open for costomers.. and they have to keep the important stuff locked up in the back becous of theavs.

You could do that.. but how many times have you been a traveling trader and put a note on the ground saying that i am selling this stuff.. and people still ask who is selling this stuff? This will certanly stop all that, since all they will have to do is look in the direction of the stall.. and see that there is a big sign with the words SWORDS FOR SAIL and then everybody who needs a sword will come rusing over, wanting to give 1000g of hemenite for that claymore you have.. but you know its worth more than that.

Again, these storage units exist. Look under "storage" when manufacturing. Basically what you're proposing, pie, is that we have a building that can be built with 100g wood? I don't know about that. But perhaps a smaller building should be allowed so people can have market stalls. But as for adding a whole new class of object, that functions completely different from any other type of objecet is sure to be rejected. It's not all that beneficial.

And pie, I'm sorry but please.. please use spell check. No offense but I'm having a hard time taking you seriously with your spelling.

all right.. we can either do the market thing two ways Way number one.. we do the extra programming for all of your swords to be outside and inside the stall at the same time, way number two, we have it so that you can just role play being outside when you enter a stall, and role play having all of the objects on a table.
