Bronze and Zinc

Postby Racetyme » Sun Sep 11, 2005 8:39 pm

Somebody please fill me in, then I will put the info in the wiki so poor relatively new players ilke me will have some idea of what is going on. How is bronze made, how much copper and tin is required to make it, and what is zinc for?

It's a project (maybe more than one type; I don't remember) on the smelting furnace, and maybe on the primitive furnace as well. I can't check myself.
I know of no use for zinc, unless it was used to make a seal. Again, someone else will have to check that.

I was just actually experimenting in game and you can make bronze on a fire pit, however I still don't know what is required to make it.

If you start a bronze making project on the firepit you will see what needs to be added to it. Just be sure to cancel it afterward and don't add anything at all unless you have all the ingredients on hand.

A little zinc is actually also needed to make bronze.

Here is the entry for a regular smelter...

In one day you can produce 500 grams of bronze. You will need the following raw materials:
1000 grams of copper
100 grams of tin
50 grams of phosphorus
50 grams of zinc
200 grams of wood
Select how much you want to make:
You can produce a maximum amount of 40000g.

I think the one made in firepit requires ONE gram of phosphorous, which is not found anywhere I know and thus effectively destroying the chance of getting this metal that is in real life softer than iron yet in Cantr used as an alternative for steel...

Well then I am off to suggest that phosphorus be added to cantr, because not having it makes every other metal involved in the process useless.

Pretty sure it can only be found on new lands...

Is that right, RD?

Yes, and I am trying to convince the powers to be to add it to the older islands. If that fails then I will try to convince them to remove it from the process.
