I personally think this would be a bad idea. It would kill off a lot of the fun in cant, the exploration. If all you have to do is go to a coast, build a radio station, and set it blasting full power to find other islands and places, then there goes an entire subculture of cantrians. Additionall, governments would be much more stable, obviously a good thing in the real world, but a lot of the fun in cantr is the constant shifting and toppling that goes on.

I recall this being objected in the old forum. It was talked about for a while, too, if I remember correctly. I believe it was concluded that Cantr's tech level wasn't there yet.
<edit> but if you say so,

I can't see that working, a radio is electronics rather than something that's less intricate. To make it balanced, what would it have to require to build, like 500g iron? Maybe morse code would be more reasonable and realistic. You could build a morse code line (or whatever medium morse code is transported by, I'm not sure) by clicking on a button that would be next to the "improve road" button.
On a similar subject, a "build railway" button should be next to it as well.
I know both of these have been suggested to be road improvements, instead. I don't like that idea, because the only way to make that balanced would be to make it so it's after expressway, as the improve road process is linear; you can't improve an expressway from a sand road, for instance. Without a few projects, anyway. This way, some communities could be accessed only by railway, and not by sportscars, for instance.
