Radio/Morse communication between setllements

Postby Shifty-PK » Thu Sep 08, 2005 10:15 pm

Hello,

Im new to this game but i though of this idea already, i searched a bit for it and it seemed not to be mentioned before.

A radio in game, with different output power for a change in range. And different frequenties. With a big house (high antenne) and enough power output of the radio you should be able to reach other towns.

I think this might be a little too high-tech for cantr, but i thought it was worth mentioning.

Cheers,

Inconsistent with Cantr's real-life technological level: I know Cantr's technologies aren't exactly consistent, but this clearly goes beyond anything currently in place.
Game balance: If widely used (and if not, what good is it?), this would be a major upset to the system. I don't know what would happen, and I expect things would calm down eventually, but I don't think anyone wants to see the game-balance equivalent of an earthquake.
Programming challenge: A radio per se might not actually be that hard to program. The problem would be adding the infrastructure that would make this possible: planning and implementing all the machines needed for electricity. We'd probably want to think of other uses for electricity, too, and those would probably be as hard to plan and program.

Semaphore has been suggested, I know.

And morse code is an OOC thing 8) We as Cantrians get to devise our own codes! :D

Hey, if radio is to high tech AND being unbalanced, what about postal pigeons?

Maybe, but that would have to wait for domestication and is also really a separate suggestion, as it would work very differently.

If radio =implemented

Then only rich has radio

Then gap between rich and poor =even greater.

In order to rationalise the technology level of Cantr, I consider our gasoline-free veichles similar to those in the Flintstones.

I think they should rename those cars.... maybe call it? I dunno... scrap them all together, then put 15000 grams of steel where they did disappear...

i dont think it would increse the gap beetween the rich and poor becase only goverments would really have a use for it but somthing like that would be good becase that would make goverments talk and there would be more politics and goverments talking means only one thing WAR !!!!

Yeah sure, war is good and all, but it exists without morse code. I don't think that was the aim of the suggestion maker, anyway.

no matter where it created war or not it would definely let goverments talk which would be brillant no matter the out come it might help people crate a way to trade from remote islands never visited
