Again about lock picking

Postby Snake_byte » Sat Sep 10, 2005 3:05 pm

There should be a lock picking skill.

Answers this:

Why is it that no matter how long or how many locks I pick, I will never get better?

It can still be based on random outcome but the better YOU get the better your ODDS are of picking it.

It just makes sense.

I have to agree on this one.
Just because you're older, smarter, stronger, more talented... doesn't mean you're BETTER.

Since what we are really talking about is forcing the lock open and destroying it, the strenght skill/ability should be used. If we want a seperated skill and tools to open a lock without destroying it, than that would be a seperate skill, but I don't see much finesse in forcing a door with a crowbar.

Breaking a lock with a crowbar should be dependant on strength.

We should have specific lock picking tools (maybe three different ones, made from steel just so they are kinda hard to get) and lock picking should be a dexterity skill which will impove with experience.

Or at least have it related to strength, if not entirely based.
