As of last night, 55 countries have offered help. Even Cuba and Iran are amongst them. And Sri Lanka, which still hasn't finished repairing the immense damage that the tsunami caused over there.

The US hasn't answered to the help offered by Cuba. Amusing how Castro responds (he tells to the doctors that they'll wait till the US responds to their offer, even if it takes days).

Well, he can't well send the doctors into America without permission.

Although it looks to me that America does not want Cuba to help, as then they wouldn't look like the evil satanic baby sacrificing communists they've been made out too be.

Exactly. Very true.

However, that money is often put in offshore accounts, or just lies stagnant in the bank accounts of the super rich company guys, and doesn't get redistributed among the people, which isn't good for the economy.

It doesn't help when all the American news organzations have already reported that Cuba wants to send aid. Furthermore, the Bush administration claims they will not turn away any aid given from other countries.

Yes, but they can't just jump the border. You can't do that. Doctors full of bullet holes won't be usefull.

I do. Even though our government on all levels fucked up, it was the common American that poured into the devastated areas with food, water, medicine. It was the common American that dangled from helicopters to save people from rooftops.

On Saturday, the largest airlift the world has ever seen saved over 30,000 people in New Orleans Convention Center.

Today, Americans are opening up their homes and businesses to those that lost everything.

Tell me why I shouldn't be proud to be an American?

Was it the common american who closed down all transport and left the tourists and people of poverty stranded waiting for a huricane?

Thers a place called carlisle down the road from me, they were flooded in January. A flood the did not expect (unlike yours) half of the Northumbrian RAF got sent over there almost instantaneously. And your country takes three days to get a proper rescue service running.

The comon flipping american, get away! Stop living in Fox news land and realise your country has problems, big fricken problems.

If you want to be proud, be proud, but theres nothing I can see to be proud of.

I'd say pretty well every American in the world ( Including the American poor.) aswell as, I don't know, maybe a few hundred million or so other people. It's a great country.

It's the Louisianna and Missisipi coast that are in trouble right now, not the whole country. (Well, not from a Hurricane anyway.)

Your damn right. America has got TONNES of problems. So does my country. So does England. Does that mean you'd rather live in a foreign place? If you ask me, that wouldn't be very patriotic, and even less practical.

Common, man, are you goin to move away from England because Bristol's got a few Jamaican posses? Don't be rediculous.

And you can see nothing to be proud of? Put your eyes out with a spoon or something? If you did, than how can you read?

Cut the crap.

Ok could you PLEASE tell me how you managed to think that's what I thought?

By common I mean common as in rare, not common as in class. The common man. And anyway serenity started that not me.

Cut the crap.

I think we both know who's talking crap here don't we. The person who managed to bring Bristols West Indian Gang Culture into a subject about a Huricane.
