Muck Pond OOC
I thought I would start up an OOC discussion group for the Muck Pond. If you want to talk about the game, express a concern or comment, this is the place. I would also like to encourage people to submit artwork, of characters, NPCs, what you think certain places look like. I intend to draw up a map of the immediate area of the Muck Pond and post that here soon. Just a rough guideline to help you in the game.
For the first post I thought I would address how I anticipate the game to progress. In case you are concerned that your characters are stuck with this limitted number of locations, I want to reassure you that there will be several opportunities to go out on quests in the very near future. We are still basically at the introduction/character development stage, though the wheels have started to be put in motion.

I wanna go up the cliff. But, my legs are short.
And it's about time Garob flipped out on Beezlebub! Silly Beezlebub. That takes guts to RP, though.

Yes, very good. Hard to be that consistent, espicially with him going up against a god, even after he was offered help and protection.
I espicially have trouble being consistent, as my character, who is supposed to be full of himself, I sometime have trouble being consistent, or at least I think I might.
Anyhow. Perhaps I should resserect my old OCC thread, come to think of it.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to address the issue of the fates. You may have noticed that not everyone's fate *seems* to be as powerful as someone else's. This is not a case of favouritism
The more powerful fates have distinct disadvantages, often ones that make that player particularly vulnerable for a period of time. SoulWrench and Resurrection work like this, for example. I treat these more powerful fates as "miss-a-turn"s, meaning that I will respond to each of the other players twice before you. This will not *always* be the case, depending on the action. Teleport is limitted to only transporting where the player has actually travelled, and all are limitted in the number of times you can perform them on someone. Other powers, ones that are less powerful, or ones that are primarily defensive (eg. Radiance and SoulShield), have little or no disadvantage, since they are already quite limitted in power.

Well, yes SoulShield is powerful, but it is primarily defensive... you can't DO anything with it... it just protects you, which is good, really good, and you don't have to activate it... it's always there. I hope it is balanced. But don't worry, if things get out of hand I'll exercise a little deus ex machina.... I'd like to avoid that as much as possible, since it's kinda cheesy in any context but sometimes necessary.
Yes, the SoulShield defends against SoulWrench. Hey, if it can defend against a god's abilities, it sure as hell better work against a "mere" fate
. Oh, and Snake_byte, I didn't mean to discourage you from using your char's power. You just have to be wise about when you use it, unless you INTEND to put him in harms way. You are allowed to make your characters do stupid, even suicidal things
Just look at Varrius' blue man...
And yes, I'm sorry about the wings, but hey, you mess with a god you gonna get burned
He did give you the opportunity to get them back though...
I must thank you Snake_byte, your character is awesome and has challenged me at every turn. This is my first time heading an interactive story and you have taught me a lot. I hope it doesn't seem like I'm making up the rules as I go along. As I said before it's less a game than an interactive story. I try to be as fair as possible, and I want everyone to have fun.

You know, that was sort of the shape I was going for, although not exactly.
Was kind of trying to go for a cross between some guy who I can't remember and that rocket in that story by the famous Englishman, along with some things I made up myself. You know who I mean, eh?
I'm glad you like him. Makes me feel all mushy on the inside.
