New button on project page. Instant Fill

Postby Just A Bill » Sat Aug 20, 2005 3:12 am

I would like to see a new button added to the project page. When this button is pressed, any resources that the character has that are needed on the project are automatically used on it.

This would save the player from several clicks (inventory->Use->Select project->amount to use) for each resource needed by the project.

For example, if a character is looking at a project that needs 100g of Steel, 25g of feathers, and 500g of wood, and the character has in his inventory 80g steel, 36g feathers and 1000 wood, and he presses the "Instant Fill" button, this would be the equivelent of using 80g of steel, 25g of feathers, and 500g of wood on the project.

From a programming standpoint, the program would have to loop thru each resource the project needs, and apply to it the lesser of the amount the character has and the amount the project needs. This doesn't sound too tricky from a programming point of view.

You might consider also adding a checkbox to the start project that if clicked, as soon as the project starts, you auto allocate whatever resources you have. I am not entirely sure this is a good idea, because if you mistype in the project type or how much material you want to produce, you won't be able to cancel the project because material will already have been allocated.

I like this idea, though I would prefer that it do nothing when the character doesn't have all of the needed resources. A bit lengthier from the programming standpoint, but not significantly so - it would just have to go through once and check everything before adding the materials.

Save every minute we can!

Why not set up a personal hunting queue as well, and attack animals every day at a regular time instead of even LOGGIN IN?

Bah.

Neat, unneccesary, but a good idea none the less.
Reality was never my strong point.

I agree with Agar.
This will only help save time. Save time to sit there and wait...
It is a good idea though

Automated hunting is not such a good idea... someone might decide to attack all the animals once a day with a selected weapon, but what if there were eight other people attacking the same animal, and suddenly there would be a much higher extinction rate...

He was making a sarcastic remark about players being lazy... it wasn't a serious suggestion...
