And cheap buildings are a no-no, as there would become a thousand of them. Let's look at Mud Huts. >.>
Le Sigh.
Tents wouldn't be cheap... You would need wood, iron or steel for joints (if it's foldable), Dried hide or thin type leather for walls...
They wouldn't be terribly expensive but I don't see them being cheap.

I think "slums" or shanty towns would be a very realistic addition to the game. And the fact that they would deteriorate quickly would also be realistic. These kinds of places and the people in them are very vulnerable and loose their possessions to disasters or police sweeps/cleaning crews all the time. If it's listed in the Wiki they would have no grounds for complaint.

I love the idea of slums and shanty towns - but, It'd get annoying in terms of the building page - in real life, the welthy (usually) move away from shanty areas to different parts of town - but that's not a possibility in Cantr... Maybe if buildings were listed in order of type rather than name that would be good...
And no one will have their building go suddenly - stone buildings should last a VERY long time - and anyone leaving a tent, well, if you can see the detereoration description on the building - even pie could work out that it means buildings will detereorate and dissappear over time...
But yes, great idea slums...

I agree with farmer. It would be nice to represent some sort of physical organiztion within the text to give the illusion of spatial arrangement in the town. It would be subtle, but would serve it's purpose I think.
And many building should fall apart slowly, but some sort of decay is a reasonable addition. It should take decades for good buildings to crumble, so the returning from a resource run scenario suggested by Anthony would then just be the player's fault, thereby removing all justification for whining.
As for tools, I think the tools should all be decaying faster than the building and will have crumbled long before the building falls. But would it be possible for the tools inside a crumbling building to be displaced to the objects list instead of being lost? As long as this whole thing will require new programming anyway...
