More on clothing...

Postby Misty » Sat Aug 13, 2005 12:20 pm

 *still chuckling after reading through the ear ring posts*

Ok ok.. here's my next brilliant suggestion, moving on from the power and electricity stuff! *takes a deep breath*

Dies for clothing?

Clothing is so horribly dull. We need to be able to color our clothes. At least the basic colors.

Clothes are also too hard to get! There are soooooo many people walking around in the buff (not that I personally mind  ) but, something just seems feebly odd about commanders walking around naked, and new spawns getting clothes? Too difficult in some situations!

One of my characters has been wanting to get dressed for some time but in order to she would need some hide at the very least, which she has not been able to get because she cannot get ahold of a weapon to use for hunting. She would also need to make a bone needle, which, would require a knife? It's a good thing she is well built, because it looks like she might have to walk around in the nude for some time to come!

Colors?
Easier acquisition?

Suggested maaaaaaany times but I agree, colours would be nice. But rather than dying the cloth or yarn, maybe only the finished items should be dyeable because otherwise we most likely couldn't use different coloured pieces for a single piece of clothing, you'd be like "oh no, I have here 99g green cloth, 88 grams of red cloth and 13 grams of brown cloth and I'm sooo cold but I can't make myself a tunic because there's no option for a multicolor tunic!" Because it would be too hard to program.

Now we could say that if you use over 50% of one colour then it would be listed as a main colour, for example "a blue tunic with patches of various colour", if there is two or three colours then they can be all listed but more than that would be just multi-colored. But this would require all cloth types in spite of the colour to be accepted on the same project, and some variable to store the colours used and their relations.

Edit: PS, it's spelled dye, a die means the cube you throw to get random numbers.

   Ohhhhhh I KNOW!!!! *laughs out loud* *puts a finger up to her cheek and tilts her head to the side* duh! I'm only partially blond too ... *sigh...

Anyhow, yes! Color the completed clothing all at once.

Maybe it could be simple to program in, by just adding naturally found inks in various regions, or in all regions.

I.e., Town of Quillanoi
Click location button and you see:

Stone
Sand
Potatoes
Daisies
Hemp
Red Ink
White Ink

... or dye, whatever fits better with the Cantr theme.

Yes? No?

I refuse to make a comment, aside from this comment, because I'm really tired of repeat posts

There's 1,000 of these posts ALREADY. Sure, you need to reenforce the idea to get it implemented, but it's already been accepted all 1,000 times... repeating the idea doesn't get it implemented any faster. It just annoys the crap out of everyone.

That's why that annoucement/sticky thread "Read this before suggesting" is there.

Locked.
