What about a rickshaw? It's a little slower than a bike cart, but it is cheaper and with only one passenger it can apparently carry a lot more. It also has the option of one or two passengers. Why would anyone want a bike cart?

I'm not sure, but I think a Rickshaw is slower, carries less, but also costs less to make.

I'd look, but I'm lazy at the moment.

You know, interestingly enough, my character doesn't seem to care a great deal about the amount of steel, iron and rubber each of these vehicles take.

For him the point is that you are either iron&steel capable (whether by manufacturing or by trading) or not - if you can get them, then whether you need 700g or 1100g seems irrelevant - just get some more! And if you can not, then 700g or 1100g are just as unattainable.

According to what you (Anthony) have written, a rickshaw can carry at least 60000 grams if there is only one person on board and that is 25000 grams more than the figure you gave for the bike cart.

That's an accurante point. I don't see where you get the 25000 more, as I didn't say how much the rickshaw can carry in the first place... but okay.

A rickshaw can carry at least 60000 grams if there is only one person on board, since it can have two passengers.
A bike cart can carry 35,000 extra grams, after your character boards it.

60000-35000=25000

Thus a rickshaw with only one person on board can carry at least 25000 grams more than a bike cart.

So, let me get this straight... From what I've seen in movies, a rickshaw is a little cart on two wheels with a seat for a person. A second person picks up the support bars of the cart and RUNS with it. So, if one person is using the rickshaw then that person is loading up the cart seat with goodies and RUNNING with the cart down the road.

Does that mean that if I didn't have a cart I could RUN down the road?

Is this like walking but at 11? <insert geeky Spinal Tap reference here>

Many rickshaws have a bike attached to the front instead of a person. That is what I assume is persumed in Cantr due to the rate of speed with which a rickshaw moves.

Why is the Darter inferior to the sloop. Considering what it requires to build?

It is immune to pirates, which is a very good thing in some areas.
