Rugby is nothing like football... unless you mean American football? In which case it might be similar... but I bet that most American Footballers would get killed in rugby.

To clarify, I am no bully. Not deliberately anyway. DSoes being really, really sarcastic all the time count as bullying? Then I might be a bully... :?

And women's rugby is VICIOUS! Vicious I tell you. I dated a female rugby player once... never been out with anyone else I was so cared of...

Although having a few friends who are willing to get into fistfights on your behalf doesn't hurt (I fell into the group of swimmers somehow). Bullying is mostly a problem in elemtry and middle school (it mostly goes away by highschool, although is not entirely gone), and I had the good fortune of being quite tall. I don't understand it, but even the bullies seemed to by intimidated by me (no matter how weak I was at the time) just because I was 15-30 cm taller then them.

Very true!

I was made fun of and bullied quite a bit in elementary and middle school, and even in to high school. Funny thing, though, once I got to late middle-school and shot up a foot and a half, people stopped bothering me physically  Even now, although I'm a pacifist and really quite wimpy, people tend not to bother me because I'm 6'4".

As far as why people make fun of other people, they do it for a variety of reasons. I do it to show affection, as strange as that sounds. My closest friends and I are absolutely horrible to each other, as far as the things we say to and about each other to our faces. We don't mean any of it, of course.

I actually have had people think I was being horribly mean to them and hated them, when in fact I was just kidding around with them and was actually fairly fond of them.

Apparently bullying is in the eye of the beholder sometimes.

Bullies won;t pick on anyone who might fight back/actually be stronger. Whether that is through height, speed, physical build, amount of friends... whatever. Bullies pick on those they perceive as weak...

To counter you saying that American football players would be destroyed in rugby I will say this:

Rugby players would be destroyed in football.

Look at that guy, that's Tim Bowens. He was an above average
Defensive Tackle for the Miami Dolphins and look how big that mofo is. Rugby players say Americans are pussies for wearings pads and helmets
but if you saw that guy coming right for yah you'd be happy you had pads on too.

Sure, Ahoyhoy. I stand by my comment, and that guy without the armour would be no more scary than a fair number of rugby players who have stamped me into the mud.

Sure, there are a few who would be fine. Similarly, there are probably only a few rugby players who would be great american footballers as the requirements are different.

But having played both sports... I think rugby is tougher. But I do love taking people out in american football :D

eh.. depends really on what place you want to be in for football. i personally would be a good line man.. i have abnormaly large amount of lower body strength. But really.. football has more rules.. and football has ends to it. i mean.. rugby ends when you make a "touchdoun".. football(american footbal) ends when the ball touches the ground or you are tacled.

Rugby takes more endurance American football takes more strategy and strength. If you think that guys not intimidating without the pads guess how much he weighs and tell me if you would like to try to stop his ass from tackling someone.

That's your new phrase huh Pie. :D

Anyway, I think it's hard to compare the two sports much anyway.

Yep. I am totally like this. You have to keep your friends humble or else they will just get full of themselves and become bullies. It's just checks and balances really.

It is really funny to notice newer members working into the forum here, as a lot of us tease and poke at each other a lot. I notice it takes a while for some people to finally understand who really hates each other and who is just being West ("I hate you all." was what I saw from him a lot when I joined. That and still bragging about the friggin' elephant.)

I was never really picked on in school and I attribute that to not backing down in front of bullies. Either that or it was because I played Rugby, Soccer and Hockey. Either way its an idea.

Also I did play a season of American Football and it was mild compared to Rugby.

So, playing sports is considered cool?

Does it go for girls too? Or do they have to be cheerleaders :P

Anyhow, I did neither of that...

For the first year in my new school, I was picked on probably because I was a new kid... But all of that stopped after that, probably because I made lots of friends..

In my old school, I was one of the most popular girls, so I never really had a problem in the school... It was great actually.. I miss those days :(
