I like the idea of pigeon post... but how feasible would it really be?

Pigeons on the road already get killed all of the time by passing travelers. Your important messages and expensive message tubes would often end up in the inventories of other people then you ment to send your message to, besides the fact that your trained bird is now dinner for some resource trader.

That is definately a risk but not a problem.

The messenger pigeons for one, could be labeled as such.

Second, watch how fast it would become illegal to hunt messenger pigeons in many regions across Cantr.

Now of course there is proving that someone killed your bird. That may be a problem :)

Oh, if some of my charries saw a pigeon labelled as being a message carrier, they would be far more apt to try to kill it. What secrets might be disclosed! :twisted:

I don't see why it would have to be a pigeon. Why not a messenger raccoon (has hands!) or buffallo (harder to kill)? On some islands there could be messenger elephants and gorillas!

No, this is your "Another form of communication" thread.

If you want pidgeons you should A: See the dozens of times it was suggested before, like every other good idea and B: Change the title.

Carrier birds - Good idea
Smoke Signals - Good idea
Semaphor - Good idea

The Smoke Signals and semaphore require certain projects to have more visible events Semaphore requires the motions of flags to be visible further away. Why not have flag poles and hard to make flags as well? Then you could look and see a red flag flying and know that there's been a thief, or a black flag could mean someone over twenty died.

And the MacGregors could pick up their damn notes.

Flags aren't that hard to make, just cloth, and some thread for now. This would be a good idea.
