Building farms

Postby Ahoyhoy » Tue Aug 02, 2005 11:28 am

You should have people be able to build farms and ranches. Cows and other animals could be raised on ranches and on the farm people could grow food. Now some may say "hey wait what need is there for doing that when people can already get food". Well, as you all know, the limited resources system limits the amount of food a town can have so a farm or two or three or more could help the town expand. You could have it so that only mountain foods could be grown in the mountains though, forest foods in the forest, tropical foods bordering the beach, and regular food for the regular areas.

I think similar ideas have come up before. I remember mentioning the idea of fields, which would be dedicated for a particular type of harvest but would give protection from animal attacks. That would be handy in areas where animals are a problem and perhaps the idea could be doubly useful now that resource gathering is allegedly limited (although, to be honest, that hasn't caused me any problems so far).

Such an idea exists, and has already been accepted, however I do believe Jos is holding off on the idea until his grid-map-plan-thing goes into action. Which I'm almost sure he cancelled production of one day, maybe I'm wrong.

Anthony, as far as I understand the current state of affairs with the grid thing is "still thinking about it". See his post in the railroads thread in the resources forum.

Those of us who love peace must organize as effectively as the war hawks. As they spread the propaganda of war - we must spread the propaganda of peace.

Yeah pie, or if you want to grow apples, perhaps you can have the option of taking out seeds from apples you have or other various plants.
