Hair, nails, teeth, relics

Postby SekoETC » Wed Aug 03, 2005 3:44 pm

This is several suggestions actually....

It would be cool if we could take relics from old town leaders or other important people, cut some fingers and put them in a box and carry them around as talismans or put them in a box and show them around. Naturally you couldn't know where it's really from but the story is more important than the origin.

I have a character who's rp'd cutting a lock of hair from two of her dead friends but I wish those things would be material. Also I have another character who twined a thread of her own hair and uses it to carry a ring as a necklace. So if all characters would grow hair and you could (or actually would have to) cut it regularly or it gets on the way. The hair would deteriorate very fast if dropped on the ground (blown away in the wind and stuff like that) so we would avoid having it piling up like meat in some places. But in inventories and inside buildings it would last forever. That would also give use to the broom since you could only pick up a minor amount (10 to 50 grams) of hair from the floor at a time. So without a broom you couldn't get it out without doing dozens of pick-ups.

Some male characters should go bald naturally and I think you should be able to select that for developped characters if you have already described them as balding and then they would suddenly have to shave their scalp with a boneknife every day to keep the illusion.

Then nails would grow too but I don't think nail cutting needs to be made a project since that's so damn annoying but anyway, it would be cool and freaky if you could remove nails from dead corpses like in that episode of X-files and keep them as fetishes. That way people would also bury strangers if they don't want to see some freak cutting them into pieces.

And back to the beginning, cutting off hands and fingers and maybe even heads, they might be required to be preserved with salt or some special stuff, I'm not very familiar with this matter but anyway I think it would be cool.

And another thing that was said before and bashed is getting skulls. That would be sooooo cool! Animal skulls and people skulls. Newspawn skulls and oldspawn skulls. Or heads, you could put them on a pole and show people there's no messing with this town. Might make a bigger influence to them stealing newspawns than just some words on paper.

On the objects page:
You see the head of a man in his twenties on a stake.

Now wouldn't that be just awesome? Especially if there was a cool graphic too. And you could put a hat on it.

Then you should also get claws from animals along with people nails. Then you could carry bear claws and hawk claws as talismans. And lion claws. Or do lions have clows? I guess so...

And teeth! Imagine a lion teeth necklace! That would be sooo cool! :D

I love this idea. If this and the cantriian skin were introduced together it would give a new way of disposing of bodies: Wearing them.

The head on a spike should also include gibblets for whole bodies.

Yeah... that would be a real step in developing realism in cantr; it would go towards adding a whole new dimension and would take away from the uniform plain-ness of some places and people. I also thinks that you should make bodies decay over time, so you can eventually take bones from their bodies (of course this would be frowned upon in most civilized societies, but you never know  )

Like the idea a lot...especially if there were some way to write on or pakage them. I mean, when you've got the small toes of half the famous regional leaders, you want a way to tell them apart...but you don't want it to actually prove the source of the relic.

Is this where characters who senselessly attack far better armed community leaders for enforcing the laws come from? Really, that's just a form of suicide...

Relics for one can already be made... In a way. If you have a very old object that has a really good story behind it such as... TBR's first crossbow... Dunno where it is now but Deacun used to have it. Every leader of TBR holding that crossbow went mad. EVERY SINGLE ONE!

But if anyone ever had it at the same time as another, you can't be sure which is which anymore. Well, it can be done if they have distinctive degredation levels, but...not easy.
