Sneaking around?

In cantr, a mud hut is decidedly stronger than reenforced concrete. There's no way at all to damage it. If that changes, then 'sneaking' out by bashing down a wall would make some sense.

But the real arguement is that something that serves the purpose of a crowbar, but better by being instant, and with a chance of being completely undetected, and requiring no tool, is completely and hopelessly unbalanced.

As for stealing things...oftentimes, goods are kept in warehouses. If you invisibly entered and left the warehouse, you could take anything you wanted from it without bothering with stealth while inside. Hard to defend against, thus that ability might be a bad idea. If you couldn't sneak through a locked door, it wouldn't be too bad.

Would it be like trying to hunt with your bare fist? Very low chance for success, and all you'd be doing is making noise and pissing off whoever locked you up. But I recall seeing how criminals broke out of Alcatraz with little files and knife, picking away at the walls. I would think if you picked away at a mudhut wall long enough, you could make a nice little excape hole.

I guess people would have to be more careful with their valuables. People take for granted that they can just leave their crap laying around. It would require towns to band together to protect their goods and build storehouses with locks. And yeah, I don't see how someone could ninja right through a locked door. You'd have to get the door open first somehow.

It's late and I'm starting to babble. I hope this makes a bit of sense.

Sneaking usually relies on nobody being around to see you. You can sneak around inside a house, true, but if someone is inside or someone sees you go in, you'd best head for the hills.

In cantr as in real life.

It's possible IRL (however very unlikely) that if an animal is just standing around, you could punch it and kill it.

However, if you're inside a building and trying to get out, you're going to need more than your bare hands and feet to get through the wall. Period. And the way the game is programmed now the only difference between buildings is their capacity and what it takes to initially build them. Wall strength and so forth are not malleable, nor am I sure it's possible to create new paths between one location (building or town) and another.

You all saeem to be forgetting that thieves in Cantr have a peculiar advantage. They can walk into every unolocked building, pick up anything they see, and make their getaway before anybody ever has a chance to react, even in a town with 60 plus inhabitants, who all see what's going on
(but too late). Thieves have, therefore, made succeessful getaways even from Siom,where it ought to be nigh-on impossible. And even when they don't succeed in getting away, they waste a heckova lot of the townspeople's time in pursuing them.

Thieves don't need life to made any easier for them. What we really need (and especially if anything like this is implemented) is some kind od system that enables things to be guarded effectively. I've been thinking about this and it's bloody hard to come up with any effective idea; but Cantr ought to be able to have it's equivalent of a security guard, oughtn't it? It's far from realistic that a thief can steal everything right from under your nose, yet get away without so much as a kick in the shin, simply because you're immobillised for hours on end. The problem is- how can you slow the thief down,to give the towspeople a realistic chance of reacting, but without making all sorts of other things impossible?

You know what's stupid? That even if you're awake in jail when the guard comes in, there's no chance to sneak out because the lock is never opened, not even for a second. The same thing with town leader going into a storage, you can't take a sneak peek through the door no matter how fast you are because keys are like some forcefield amulets, you just go through the door.
