I think that "loner" characters should be able to make it on their own, hunting or farming with a few simple tools. But anything beyond basic survival should require team work, trade, organization...and yes, specialized jobs.

I agree with Lumin here. Perhaps a big reason it is so difficult to find good employees right now, because there are so many horrible bosses out there. This is primarily attributable to.......now I know you are going to hate me for this......lack of roleplaying ability. *gasp* That's right, I said it.

It's all well and good to focus on the task at hand, but you have to give people a reason to keep checking their characters. One way is wages, another way is to fill in the time gaps until projects finish with roleplaying.

well, how about this. ending resourses. eh? eeeehh? it would be a good thing once free roaming comes in part, then somone can go and find a place, stake his clame there, and say that the iron is his, witch it would be. and it would also mean, that you could discover iron(Hemenite, actually) on your property, and then, ITS YOURS! its more of a, IT MOVES thing rather thenITS GONE, AND IT WILL NEVER COME BACK thing.

and that would mean that it would be worth more, rather than only be worth a days work. so that the gold market (and iron, hemanite, whatever) would fluctuate, and the Echonamy would get better.

that would also get ridd of the "ile do it myself" thing, becous you can't 'do it yourself'.

and also, when there is free roaming, seeds, and Harvests, so that food production is harder. shure there is wild stuff, but there is also domesticated stuff.

pleas, if you have a problem with this, say it, don't talk about my spelling.

Don't you think that playing an employee who doesn't care about wages is bad roleplay?
