I know it's not the a pre-industrial thing but we have cars and dirigibles work more like boats than planes.

Helium exists in natrual gas pockets.
But since vechicles don't break hydrogen could be used. All you need is water and electricity/energy {rubber/copper crank}.

We do, but do our characters know? That could make an interesting surprise, there should be more tragedy in this game, ships shoudl be able to crash, same with cars.

Yeah, it would be nice to have disasters in Cantr. Cars wrecking and plowing through people, buildings falling down to lack of care, boats sinking/running aground, etc., it would make things pretty interesting, maybe people would stop worrying about the animals so much.
